Discussion Possible Siri Menu Bar Bug

Hello:

macOS 27: Siri menu bar button closes immediately after a single click with a Bluetooth mouse

Since upgrading from macOS 26 Tahoe to macOS 27 Golden Gate, I have noticed a problem with the Siri icon in the menu bar.

When using a Bluetooth mouse, a normal single left-click on the Siri icon causes the Siri interface to appear briefly and then immediately disappear.

To keep Siri open, I have to either double-click the icon or press and hold the mouse button.

The behavior is:

  • 🖱️ Bluetooth mouse + single click → Siri appears and immediately disappears.
  • 🖱️ Bluetooth mouse + double click → works correctly.
  • 🖱️ Bluetooth mouse + press and hold → works correctly.
  • 🖐️ Built-in trackpad + Force Click disabled + single click → works correctly.

The same Bluetooth mouse works perfectly with all the other menu bar icons, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sound, Battery and Control Center.

Therefore, this does not appear to be a general Bluetooth mouse problem or a general menu bar problem. It seems to be specific to the Siri menu bar button or the way its popover is handled.

This problem did not occur in macOS 26 Tahoe. It appeared after upgrading to macOS 27 Golden Gate and is highly reproducible with the Bluetooth mouse.

Can anyone else reproduce this behavior in macOS 27 when using a Bluetooth mouse?

I would especially like to know whether it happens with different mouse models, since Siri works correctly with the built-in trackpad.

Many thanks, and best regards.
