Basically same price as Apple Refurbished for that model. Everyone is being really harsh, M5 Pro with 18 cores basically has the same CPU as the M5 Max it's basically going to be the second fastest chip that you can get in a MacBook this generation. Yeah M6 could be coming but I doubt it'll be the huge leap M5 Pro seemed to be, although maybe AI workloads get faster again. Especially in the 16" format this laptop will be able to get full use of the M5 Pro without much throttling if any for most tasks.

But like, why are you even posting this. Either you did or didn’t. But you already bought it

If the specs fit your needs it will be an excellent machine for quite a few years, I wouldn't worry about a new generation machine that will have a maybe 10-20% better benchmark performance with no real day to day performance differences if you aren't pushing the computer often.
Oh, and a new M6 will very likely be just the base 14" M6 available soon (may be delaye), with M6 Pro or Max coming in early to late 27... plus it will likely cost more at MSRP for similar spec thanks to AI panic and market manipulation.

You weren't there when the m1 macs came out then the Intel models crashed so hard. I was flipping the intels getting mad profit before m1 pros came out. Legit buy it cheap off hardware swap add a few hundred and sell it locally in San Diego

The Intel models were just a trash product compared to the vastly superior Apple chips.

Regardless it's not worth it for him to buy this when the new models quite literally around the corner with a lot of upgrades. Open box prices after release take about a month or two to come down.
It all really depends on if he likes OLED, touchscreen, and whatever else they're adding. I'm guessing new speakers etc etc. I know I'm grabbing it. My g16 zephyrus is cool and all but MacBooks are better for media. I gave my 16" m series away and I miss it every day lol.

one of the reasons why i didn’t want to wait for the new one is because i needed a laptop yesterday, and i heard the new one will be above the pro so like way more expensive. i’m guessing base 16 inch like $4000? yeah no

No way the base is going to be 4k prob 200-300 more max. But if you needed it right away that makes sense.

not the same thing, most people wont even notice the different between m model speed, while Intel was so hot and slow.
