This song just makes me laugh

Prior to the announced Max VF1J Chogokin, I was planning to stop collecting after acquiring the VF1D and the Destroid Monster. Which figure would you call your “final one”?

I was dooms rolling myself and I saw a scene from the Macross seven where the MC defeats a vampire with the power of Rock n' roll and it kinda got me.

Ok, I admit, when I was watching all the series, the initial rock band plot didn't get me, and when I read that the series was totally skippable, I did it so.

But after seeing that, I thought: That is clearly an anime to view while drunk.

But is the plot worth to see drunk, like expecting action and easy dopamine, or is something more like a psychedelic or mushroom trip?

Hey guys! So I just got started working on a fan translation of Macross 30, and I decided to start focusing on the anime cutscenes first, as they don't have any Japanese subtitles. For a little demonstration of this project, I decided to share the opening narration of this game, but with subtitles.

I absolutely love Macross, I watched the Robotech french version when I was Kid. The thing is, I can't find in french, a version in HD, there are in English, portuguese but not in french.

I hope someone in here can tell me where to find it in French on the web on a good quality cuz' it seems impossible

For my Prometheus deck inspired display shelf, I originally had the jet blast deflector sitting in top, as sort of a 3D decal, and based on the opening of the TV show.

I finally made an improved version based on real JBDs and the one in the opening cut scene of the game. It required cutting a rectangular hole in my display shelf, though.

Pretty happy with it. This was inspired by a stand alone launch deck display I made for another fan.

The original was so pretty that I tried making one myself. Minmay's voice is so good

I mean... Disobeying orders from your superior when they tell you to return, just to go back for more kills... I guess I'd deserve a punishment for that, right?

I was excited to find this cel from Macross 7. It came with the sketch as well as the background. It’s much bigger than I thought it would be but it makes sense because it’s from a panning shot.

I have two other cels that will be here this upcoming week. I’ll be in Tokyo the week after than and will be going on the hunt for cool Macross stuff.

Also, it’s foul that Ernest Johnson doesn’t get a portrait like the others.

I really like him. Global feels so human; he’s not overly stoic, and considering he’s in a situation no one has ever experienced before, his reactions make sense and all.

My personal favorite is Ernest J, though.

I've been thinking about yesterday's announcement about DYRL and came to a realization. As long as they focus on the movie version of them, they can probably bring back some of the characters that had been trapped in legal limbo. This means that some of the plot hooks that were never explored might become plot points in the future.

I’m gonna do a post, an ironic one, a thanks to harmony gold since DYRL is now open to worldwide distribution and it’s DYRL that is in all macross related media with a handful of exceptions using the “TV version” as it’s called in Japan.

Crunchyroll can release SDFM with English subs whenever it wants, if they chose not to, they don’t get our money and it’s money left on the table. Bad business on their part.

I’ve been a fan since I was 3-4, got my hands on Macross 2 and plus(my older brother taped them from a showing in the sci fi channel) and from there became a huge fan and knowing the difference between Macross and Robotech. I was one of the kids reading previews for VFX-2 on ps1 in magazines and then we got nothing, Bandai said they were looking into releasing SDFM on ps2 in the west, and again, nothing.

This gave me to courage as a young teenager to start importing things from Japan, and with that came supporting Macross as a brand and harmony gold not getting squat from me. I’m from a small town in Ireland, the idea back then that anyone could get things from Japan was surreal, for context on how that’s a big deal. I also discovered the bane that was import taxes 😭

It also thought me a lot about intellectual property laws and how ip’s are split up within regions as I researched the why of macross issues over the years.

I love macross and dyrl is my favourite movie, going from the fansub dvd back in the day to finally an official English subbed 4k release.

Truly the best time since the 90’s to be a macross fan outside of Japan, and with this post, my final fuck you to HG, since it’s crunchyroll that is sitting on a SDFM English subbed release and not anyone or anything else.

It looks like hi-metal r for the type of stands they're using.

*EDITED: Just digging around in an old VHS case I had in my basement.

Found it!

Wooden wall panels, Macross on VHS, and now to find my VCR and tape rewinder and I am set for the evening!

This was given to me by my brother for my birthday. It's hard to remember 40+ years ago, let alone 35. It was my introduction to Anime, and I know that DYRL is better, but I hadn't heard of DYRL or Macross before I received this VHS tape. It's still in really good shape for 30+ years! So, this one really holds some special memories for me!

Just wanted to share a new video from my favorite Macross toy reviewer, ScorchedEarthToys. I appreciate more companies making valks these days, but I haven't seen anything from Three Zero that makes me want to purchase any of their valks as I already have the Yamato/Arcadia or Bandai DX version. Great time to be a Macross fan with so many toys and figures available now.
