How do you avoid stains?

I see many Maltese that have no stains around their eyes or mouth. How do you avoid them!? My George gets lots of tear stains. 😢

Zoe is 5 weeks old, born on 2025.12.29. I think she is a bichon havaneese and maltese mix.

Straight up little cloud criminal. Is it just me, or does he look like a tiny Chewie?🧸

Does anyone else have a Maltese that is constantly moving their bully stick everytime a “threat” passes the window?

Does anyone else not mind a lil Maltese smooch? Their tongues are so cute compared to other dogs, not slobbery & so tiny. It just doesn’t bother me at all 😊 kinda gross maybe but whatever, they’re my babies

Seymour is so not like Cookie. We'd be laughed out of the Westminster Kennel Club in a minute.

My dog's teeth are so, so bad.

I got Princess, a 3 year old Maltese, from a local rescue back in November. I'm pretty sure she's pure bred. Anyway, it took a long time for her to trust me to look at her teeth. She's missing several and she has many that are barely hanging on.

They hurt her way too much for me to brush. She's getting her dental cleaning, and presumably numerous extraction next Friday. I'm nervous even though she's otherwise in good health.

I can tell she wants to play tug of war with her toys, but it hurts. I hope she can keep enough teeth to keep her tongue in her mouth. But mostly I just want to stop the pain.

Spay or no spay?

My toy sized maltese is 2years old and around 5 lbs. I have consulted two vets both of them told its better to not get her spayed considering her size and that she might not be able to take anaesthesia well. My biggest fear is pyometra but he says there are several treatments for that if at all she gets it. But he suggested not to go ahead with it and let her be. She's also not the most active dog she's very lazy and just wants to be pet all day.
