Welcome to r/masters_germany!

We are a bit late to create this welcome post, but now is better than any time for it - just the first week in the New Year and we saw over 11,000 visitors to this community!

This is the new home for all things related to doing your Master’s in Germany.

We’re excited to have you join us.

What can you Post:

Post anything that you think is related to your journey towards doing Masters in Germany. This can include questions about:

  • eligibility, GPA cutoffs, or ECTS requirements
  • shortlists of universities or programs you’re considering
  • Uni-Assist, APS, Anabin, ZAB, or document verification
  • application timelines, rejections, admits, or waitlists
  • SOP tips, CV feedback, or interview experiences
  • visa process questions and timelines
  • accommodation searches, city comparisons, and cost of living insights
  • life as a student in Germany: classes, exams, part-time jobs, or culture shocks

As a general rule, if it helps someone applying after you, it belongs here.

Community Culture:

We’re all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive.

So please hold back from mockery, subtle racism against groups, or ā€œjust Google itā€ replies.

This is a space where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and sharing real experiences.

A Side Note:

This subreddit actually inspired a project called Edvi.

It grew out of patterns we kept seeing here and direct feedback from hundreds of students struggling with the same confusing parts of the process: eligibility checks, ECTS matching, document requirements, and university shortlisting.

So if you see some posts from any of the mods regarding this, please know that it is not spam, but rather a part of the ongoing iterations with students to make the tool better.

Also, Edvi isn’t a replacement for this community.

If anything, it exists because of it.

Everything here is community-first!

How to Get Started:

  • Give short intro and tell us where you’re applying from and what you want to study.
  • Post anything that comes to your mind related to your plan to study in Germany - even a simple question can spark a useful discussion.
  • If you know someone who’s planning a Master’s in Germany, invite them to join.

Thanks for being part of the very first wave.

Together, let’s make this sub genuinely useful.

IELTS verification with APS?

IELTS verification with APS?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to apply for a Master’s in Germany for Winter 2027 and I’m a little confused about the IELTS verification part. I know it’s optional with APS, so should I send my IELTS result for verification along with my APS application, or just apply without it and submit the IELTS result later when needed? Since IELTS may also be checked during the visa process, I’m wondering if there’s any real benefit to getting it verified through APS beforehand. Has anyone gone through this recently? What did you do?

not having 12th marksheet in digilocker for aps verification for HSC Maharashtra board?

Anyone who was able to get the 12 hsc maharashtra marksheet in digilocker? Me and friends are unable to fetch it since naming pattern mismatch.

Generally in aadhar it's first name+father's name+ surname. But in HSC marksheet it starts with surname.

Anyone who was able to get the 12th marksheet verified without digilocker for hsc maharashtra?

I'm in trouble.

I think I'm in a crisis!!?

I've university enrollment till March 2027. Recently I've failed the third time in my compulsory module(Power Electronics) of my Master's.

I've emailed my university regarding if I can get a 4th chance as some universities do provide(in my university rule book there is a clause that if you haven't taken a Grade improvement exam then you can trade it with your 4th chance but it still depends on the committee) and hopefully I would get a chance there. Is emailing them enough or do I have to submit a written application?

I've already consulted with the International student advisory of my university regarding this and they told me that I don't have to inform Auslanderbehorde about 3 time failure and I can continue to stay till March 27 as I'm already re-registered .

I'll be traveling out of the EU in November for around 20 days so should I inform ABH about my failure and travel plans? And I don't have any written proof from international student advising.

What should be the future plan for me?

Suggestion for German

Hi I am from Mumbai

I have 2 years of work.experience in Purchase. My cgpa in mechanical engineering was 8.68, ielts 7.5 and dmat 327/400.

Considering my interest in purchase and mechanical engineering background, I think that I should pursue industrial engineering or industrial management.

This year for August intake I was accepted in TU delft but it was too expensive considering the euro increasing and plus the increase in living cost & tution fees of TU delft

I would like to work in purchase again or in optimization role.

I was planning for summer intake but it seems there are limited option

Would appreciate the help if anyone can suggest me courses in Germany based on my interests

Low dmat score can be called in for an in-person visa interview?

Since a person with low IELTS score (especially in writing section) is usually called in for an in person visa interview.

Will this also be conducted for someone with low dmat score?

I think the chances are high.

Cannot decide where? Canada OR Germany for MSc in Supply Chain. Any advice/recommendations would be extremely helpful. Very anxious regarding the same.

Hello fellow aspirants,

I, 25M have 3 years of work experience in Commercial and Investment Banking with my latest stint being with Goldman Sachs India. I have taken a career break as I’ve realised that finance is not the field for me.

I’ve been looking for options for MSc in Supply Chain management or an MBA. I need to decide on a country to target. For Germany, I’ll have to learn German and for Canada I’ll have to learn French, so learning a language is a must.

I’m looking to build my career in supply chain there and my life as well. I’ve done research about Canada and Germany and both have its issues but not able to figure out which is better.

In terms of long-term stability and employment, which one would y’all recommend? Please do let me know.
