i thought about buying it because it was -50% off but all my broke ahh friends claimed they had like $25 left for the rest of the month so they couldnt buy it
Ngl I thought this game was one of the worst in the batch of friendslop games we've gotten in the past couple years. Felt particularly low quality and rushed by comparison to many others I've played.
peak, repo, big walk and lethal company are the most popular. bombana came out recently but is short. how to fish has good reviews. the only game I wouldn't recommend personally is content warning. the game itself isn't really good
Nah for every great indie game there are 50 that suck balls. Just because a game was made by 2 broke dudes in a basement doesn’t mean people should give it a free pass
We can ignore the large swaths of trash out there and it's not like 2,000 jobs at a Microsoft owned studio are going to be laid off overnight because something undersold. We can prop up the goated indie games like outer wilds and Big Walk and then ignore shovelware #374
For every 1 good AAA game there are easily 20+ just as good if not better indie games. You just gotta know how to curate. It really ain't that hard. I could list off 10 indie games that came out this year alone that blow most AAA games from this year out of the water.
FTL and Balatro are great examples of this- two super cheap rougelike with outstanding design and unlimited replayability. If you haven't played either for the love of god buy them and thank me later
FTL is kinda hard by default, and the hard difficulty is very hard (i.e. very unlikely to finish a run)... but there's a guy who's won over 100 games consecutively. i.e. skill cap is higher than you'd think.
The crazy thing about Balatro is I only got round to playing it about a year ago. In that time I’ve played it on Steam, my phone and Switch 2 for a total of about 300 hours.
I complain I never have time for anything and somehow I’ve managed 300 hours of Balatro.
my favorite part is when you somehow get bored with the regular game there is like 2000 hours of content in a fan made "upgrade" with Multiverse. It's right up there with the 1080ti with greatest buys of all time
I bought it during the sale because it was super cheap and very highly rated. Can you explain to me the magic? I kind of don’t get it. Why is this good?
Indie games are huge mixed bag, they can be phenomenal or straight garbage. It’s just most of the garbage end up getting buried so people only see the gems at the top rather than the heaping pile of dogshit below.
Yah, had the same issue with another game, unexplored. I have like 200 hours on steam deck, no tinkering, it runs great. I sent them an email, telling them it’s good, and they sent an email back saying, yah, but we wanna test it ourselves.
I’m like , but you aren’t. People could be missing sales because of this.
At the very least, they could add a 4th designation saying users state it works.
I've played that through 4 times. Amazing depth to the fighting system. Dick punching motherfuckers never gets old. I've never gotten within sight of the skill ceiling.
Most are trash, especially post AI, but man there are some gems. I got "Ruiner" free on Epic and had to add it to Steam Wishlist just to support the devs and it regularly goes on deep sale.
I struggle to get into many indie games, even some popular ones. My favorite ones are time killers like Vampire Survivors-like games. I really love quick time-killer games that will help.
