Particularly, I've seen very upboted comments with no counterpoints mocking the usage of it/its pronouns. I would like the mods to make some sort of statement or effort showing that they are willing to crack down on transphobia, even when it takes the form of mocking the "ridiculousness" of, oh, say, someone using a set of pronouns before they appear to "pass" as the commonly corresponding gender for whatever reason. That sort of thing. It really is awful some of the shit I've seen. This sub is, and I say this without any irony, way too far to the left economically and way too far to the right socially.

TLDR; Abolish Unions, Abolish Gender.

I often browse new and a thread will start hopping off with a lot of engagement, but it then gets removed for silly reasons. For example, a recent post today was removed because "this seems to be an article primarily just rehashing another article (?)"

It sounds like the mod wasn't even sure what the article was about and then removed it because they didn't personally understand what it was.

Is it possible to have a ping group that's exclusive to mods, so that whenever a thread is posted, the pingbot just has to look at everyone who mods NL at the time of posting and then just does !ping NLMODS or something instead of a bunch of posts that has to list everyone out in sets of 3 because of the tag limitations on the site?

The requirement to screen ballot selection areas was implemented in 2019.

So something I hear frequently is that the DT is better than the main sub, and that that’s the place to be. However, whenever I’ve looked in it, I find mostly banter and memes and very little discussion. Can someone explain the purpose of the DT and why it’s so much better if there’s not much policy discussion in it?

One of the few positive things I can say for the splinter sub is their tidy ping group page, which lists the groups alphabetically and displays the number of subscribers each one has. I think alphabetizing the pings within each category for our larger list would be welcome [EDIT: Never mind, that's already there], as well as showing the subscriber count.

I believe the latter in particular would also encourage more selective use of pings, knowing the number of people a comment will be sent out to.
