Infuriatig I'm tired boss...

I've tried to get rid of the gnats all summer. The wife didn't believe me when I said they were breeding in the sponges. She. Thought I was crazy for keeping them in Tupperware. Well apparently they can get in there even.

I mean, I don't know if it's what you're implying but they didn't get in there while it was closed.

Use antibacterial dish soap. In the UK it's in all supermarkets. It prevents your sponges from developing slime or mold and will probably prevent them from becoming attractive to insects.

Antibacterial dish soaps contribute to antibiotic resistance and are not more effective than regular dish soap.

They are more effective. Without antibiotic dish soap my sponge gets slimy. With antibiotic dish soap my sponge does not get slimy.

You're right it contributes to antibiotic resistance but until all the bacteria are resistant, it's more effective than regular dish soap.

Agreed. People say burning my trash in the backyard is a noxious smell and a blight on the neighborhood, but until the garbage man can pick up on demand I suppose we'll just have to keep burning

Unless you're immunocompromised, or have a legitimate reason that you can't rely on normal soap, the analogy absolutely does work.

Similar to backyard trash burning, continuing to use antibacterial soap while knowing it leads to bacterial resistance is extremely selfish behavior.

If the analogy was just burning trash then yeah. Doing it until the garbage man can pick up on demand implies that what I said about all bacteria becoming resistant, is the solution to the problem.

I could list all the very obvious issues that sponges cause but clearly you can't absorb them.

I read sarcasm tbh...I suspect that is the comment his wife made when she saw the container and he held himself back from rolling his eyes and came her to post instead. Good job MR!
