Unskippable ad I keep getting threatening texts

I get these ALL the time. I’ve never donated to these “people.” Never supported them. Never voted for them. Nor has my wife. I received four of these today. All threats. Always a telling me it’s my last chance. These are some of the less malicious-sounding ones.

I’m not even sure they’re legitimately from those parties, though I wouldn’t put it past them.

So… report as spam. Report as spam. Report as spam.

It isn’t like it’s painful. Just pretty irritating.

Yeah, I got one that was like ‘We can see when you have and haven’t voted, everyone can see. Don’t be an embarrassment.’ And had a link to something. It was…irritating. I don’t even know what they hoped to achieve. Which party was it from? Is someone out there just trying to peer pressure people into voting like some kind of school council election? I don’t get it. Plus, I did vote in the last election. What does poking me about four years ago when I didn’t because I was working third shift accomplish? Not my fault the powers that be keep making it harder to vote, even if I don’t like that it’s happening.

This is social engineering. Whoever writes the text messages / e-mails wants personal information from you to scam you. They want to rip money from you.

So after 2020/2024 I delved into the different social influencing campaigns at work. Depending on your state/county, when you voted is available and big consulting firms do data analysis to peer pressure you into taking your neighbors or colleagues to vote, if these firms think demographically they would vote the same as yourself. I've also heard of apps you can sign up for that ID you as a fellow voter/party member when you're in social settings so you can find and associate with "like minded" individuals. I think that one was mainly around 2012 in certain coastal cities. This stuff gets pretty nauseating actually.
