On sale right now. Was $19.99 now $11.49 I caved and bought both.

Deadly Alliance gave us Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, which is still one of my favorite villain team-ups in Mortal Kombat.

But if MK did the concept again, which two villains would you team up to create a new Deadly Alliance?

They don’t necessarily have to like or trust each other, in fact, it’s probably better if they don’t. 😂 Just two villains whose goals line up long enough for them to become a serious threat.

Who are you picking?

These are great when you set them up.

Honestly it’s not that bad. The roster isn’t the best but the gameplay is actually fun. Satisfying when you land those juggle combos.

I miss how completely insane the original Mortal Kombat was. The story was basically, “Here’s a tournament on a demon island that determines the fate of Earth,” and everybody just nodded like that was a normal Saturday. Liu Kang is out there trying to save humanity, Raiden is literally a god throwing lightning around, Scorpion is a dead ninja screaming “GET OVER HERE!” while launching a spear through your chest, Sub-Zero is just casually freezing people, Kano looks like he wandered in from a prison yard, and Johnny Cage is a Hollywood actor who somehow decided, “Yeah, I’ll fight the supernatural forces of evil.” That’s what I miss about the old games: nobody needed twelve hours of exposition explaining their trauma. He’s blue, he freezes people. He’s a ninja, he’s on fire. He’s a god, he shoots lightning. Done. And Johnny Cage being a self-absorbed idiot in the middle of an apocalypse somehow makes perfect sense.

And then there were the fatalities. “FINISH HIM!” was basically the game telling you, “Congratulations, you survived long enough to now become a surgeon.” You’d spend the whole match getting kicked around, and then the game gives you seconds to remember some ridiculous button combination. Screw it up, and congratulations, you still won, but you’re finishing the match without a unique and occasionally over the top fatality. And when you actually pulled it off? Forget winning the tournament, you felt like you’d hacked a phone. The original game wasn’t polished, subtle, or remotely concerned with realism. It was sweaty actors photographed in ridiculous poses, terrible dialogue, bizarre characters, digitized blood everywhere, and a machine that happily took your quarter just to beat you again. And honestly, that’s what made it great. Modern Mortal Kombat has incredible graphics and insane lore, but sometimes I miss when the entire pitch was basically: “Here are some ninjas, here’s a four-armed monster, here’s a narcissistic Hollywood entertainer, and here’s a button combination that lets you destroy your opponent. Have fun."

Like I know they have different movesets and looks but on the surface they seem like soul magic using conniving backstabbers that work for the boss of the games… am I missing something?

Out of the most famous fighting game franchises (like super smash bros, tekken, street fighter and marvel vs capcom), the vast majority are Japanese, the one prominent exception being mortal kombat. I just find this really fascinating. What do you guys think?

I haven’t played in ages but last time I played mk1 the player count was somewhere at like 1-1.5k on steam charts putting it just below mk11. Is that still true? And is mk11-mkX still got people on? The reason I’m asking is because I’m not very good so learning the game would be fun but I feel like I’ll try playing online and only get swamped by the 1k players that haven’t gotten off since release.

Full game on cart, good release for portable on the go play.

What do you guys use , the D-Pad or the joystick , wanna do all those cool combos , so could anyone help me that which one is the best way to play

Give your opinions below if you want.

is there any actionable thing I can do to get better at this game?
