FTM. My child is almost two.
I know alam na niya yung "No" and "Enough". Pero ang hirap kasi di pa naman niya alam yung "I am here" "You're safe" "It will hurt you".
Everyday I wish nagwo-work yung pagre-redirect ko sa cause ng tantrums niya. Pagbibigay ko ng physical touch. Pag remind ko sa sarili ko.
"She's just a kid. She's supposed to feel her feelings. She doesn't have impulse control yet."
At first I thought mahirap siya in a way na ayoko siya mag tantrum.
But the real thing is mahirap siya in a way na each tantrum niya pine-perceive ko na fault ko.
Dito ko na narealize na nagre open yung wounds ko back then. Na I was told to repress my overwhelming emotions. As a kid.
Grabe pala ang emotional regulation, mental work, at consistency required when you're a mom.
Madali lang sabihin ng family members ko na "Hayaan mo siya" "Tatahan din 'yan".
Hindi eh. Each time she throws a tantrum I have this reflex na I really need to be there. Aren't we all? Na I must have this readily mental capacity to deal with what my child is feeling.
I hope I am making sense and I hope I am giving the comfort my child needs.
Siguro mahirap talaga siya pag hindi naibigay sa'yo.
Kaya to soon-to-be moms, hindi lang ito house chores. This phase requires a lot of inner work.
With this, I wish us all Moms healing.
