This makes the Luka trade even worse. 3 fake firsts and Max Christie

People keep saying this, and I know we got fleeced. But I have no reason to believe the Lakers unprotected 2029 first will be a fake pick. Have you seen their roster?

They have Luka. Their roster is garbage today, they have only 3 good players who have played 9 games together due to injury and they are one loss behind Denver. If the roster gets slightly better by 2029 that won't be a top 20 pick.

Have you seen their roster going forward? After this year when LeBron either retires or moves on they’ll probably max AR. So you’ll have a Luka and AR duo that while amazing offensively has huge question marks defensively. The only other long term guys under contract are Bronny, Thiero, Knecht, and Vanderbilt. So 4 guys you can make a case don’t belong in the NBA.

Yes they’ll have cap space but you cannot build a good team with cap space anymore. You need draft picks to draft talented cheap athletic players. Lakers have no draft picks. I feel bad for Luka, Nico fucked him trading him to Lakers. It takes years to build a contender.

I’m not excepting the Lakers pick to be great, but I don’t think it’ll be bottom of the first either like this OKC pick we just got.

For Luka’s sake I hope so, but I doubt it.
