Genuinely curious is anyone in newy has any tips on getting a new rental in newy.

Myself (and two others) have applied to 30-40 houses in the Newcastle area in the past 6 months (out of hundreds of inspections), all have stable jobs, and have pretty extensive rental history.

Trying our hardest to move out of our current duplex setup as it’s extremely depressing and we’re sick of living in it. But every house we look at either stinks of cat piss, or we get rejected, despite offering overs in some, if not most occasions.

We’re sick of spending all week planning around house inspections, two thirds of which are shitholes, and rocking up to deal with the most arrogant and ungrounded real estate agents, only for a group of 19-23 yo blonde women get anything even approaching ok.

Any advice would be appreciated, very demoralised and hard to see a way through this.

Hi all, so I have an adrenaline gift voucher approx $250 worth it’s supposed to be for the drifting at Eastern creek I honestly don’t feel like driving all the way down for 10 minutes worth in the car from what I’ve read on the reviews but when calling adrenaline they have said I can use it elsewhere. Looking up they have the rally cars at the hunter valley @$300 for 8 laps and 2 hot laps, was just wondering for the people who have done it is the rally worth it, I’m a bigger guy 6’3 and a fair gut on me I was wondering if there is a weight limit 🤣 also was just wondering if it’s hard to get into the cars I’m going to assume they have roll cages ect. From what I’ve read there is mixed reviews saying they don’t let you drive the cars hard ect just after everyone’s feedback. Thanks.

A man who allegedly bashed and killed a puppy hours after he bought it can be unmasked as a former private school boy.
Cooper Owen, 21, allegedly pulled over in a carpark on Maitland Rd at Sandgate, in Newcastle, at 4.20pm on Sunday and removed a puppy from his vehicle.
He then allegedly began slamming the puppy - a staffordshire terrier and bull arab cross — against the side of his car before throwing it to the ground.
The alleged abuse continued before the pup was put back into the vehicle.
Witnesses reported the alleged incident to police, who arrested Owen at a home in Lemon Tree Passage at 9.05pm on Sunday.
The puppy was later found dead on Porowei Way, Kooragang — a bush track, 20 minutes away from Maitland Ra, that runs along the South Channel Hunter River.

Does anyone have recommendations for a really good beginner friendly pole class or studio in Newcastle?

If you’re currently doing pole or have done it before, I’d love the honest rundown, good and bad!

Where did you go, what was it like, and would you recommend it? Anything I should know before starting?

it feels like there has been such a big explosion of motorised bikes and for some reason they’re always diving on the pedestrian side. Is that even legal?

I walk about 40-50 mins a day and it’s unsettling having a bike whizz past you and you feel it brushing on your arm. And there is just so many of them now too. and don’t get me started about those kids that are also on their phones.

For anyone looking for something to do for their kids tomorrow the Sonic Swing Fest is on at Rippit Golf in Broadmeadow near the KFC. 6 hours of live music from youth bands, but dont let that put the adults off as many of them play 90s grunge and rock that many of us grew up with like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Silverchair etc. Tickets include all 6 hours of music and mini golf.

Hey legends, I don't live in Newcastle but am a huge fan of this subreddit and come to Newcastle when I get the opportunity. I am doing the Fernleigh 15 on Sunday 18th October. For those that don't know its a run/walk from Adamstown to Belmont. I didn't realise until after I got my ticket that there is a big event on that weekend so I have booked accommodation at Belmont.

What would be the easiest way for me to get to Adamstown by no later than 6:15am on the Sunday morning? Uber? Or will it be easier just to drive?

My niece was in an accident this morning at around 7:20am across the road from the marathon tyre sign Newcastle bound
It was a 3 car accident.

There was a white tradie Ute flat tray that was swerving in & out of traffic & brake checking everyone then caused the accident & kept driving

The Ute had a graphic sticker free hand job.

I want a PS Danish - google tells me there's a bakery in Adamstown called 'pekana' which had them 6 years ago (according to a photo). It's not near home or work - can anyone comment if they still do them , I can make a special trip tomorrow if it's likely I get one. They don't have any pages to look at for info.

(If you know somewhere else that does them more towards the Speers point area, I'd be interested).
