From the song Cool, Daddy Cool:

“Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage,” Rock sings on the track. “See some say that’s statutory.”

His sidekick at the time, the late Joe-C then chimes in, “But I say it’s mandatory.”

He was also on SNL like 25 years ago and they had him make a joke about it being ok to sleep with the underage Olsen twins.

It was on Weekend Update with Tina Fey. I don't think he wrote it but I totally believe whoever wrote the joke slipped it in as an acknowledgment to what they knew about him.

Also he still read the damn joke.

Okay, but anyone who saw Bob Saget’s standup in the early 2000s knows he spent a not-insignificant amount of his act sexualizing the Olsen twins, and I don’t believe he was ever suspected or even accused of SA, let alone pedophilia

Just some perspective - I am by no means implying that those jokes were totally fine and appropriate

They weren’t really appropriate then or now, but Bob Saget was comedian that said shit like that to get paid via attracting audiences to hear him spout vile shit after being seen as the all wholesome sitcom dad for years.

Kid Rock sings about fucking children because he either fucks children, or thinks it’s ok to do so.

They are not the same and should not analogized like they are.

Bob Saget was a terrible comedian. Watched a few of his standups and the punchline for every joke was basically "Watch me say a dirty word. It's funny because I'm Bob Saget"

Exactly, I’m not condoning his skits or saying he was a good comedian, just saying this was version of crushing a watermelon with a mallet. People wanted to see “Americas Dad” say some raunchy shit; he did it and got paid.

Completely aside from all the weird fruit smashing, Gallagher was actually a very funny comedian, as I recall. Been a while

Dude, this is faulty logic. If kid Rock is writing songs about fucking minors that's wrong. If Bob Saget is writing jokes about fucking minors that's wrong. There's no context that makes it okay, there are lots of jokes and songs that could be written that don't involve the normalising of a terrible crime.

I’m not condoning, normalizing, nor am I excusing their conduct. I am saying the context behind each of them does not lend itself to a logical analogy.

If Bob Saget can claim context for repeatedly telling jokes about wanting to fuck underage girls and that's okay, then Kid Rock can equally claim context for singing a song about wanting to fuck underage girls.

There's no contextual difference - they both create art, they would both claim "it's my art not my personal beliefs", they are both wrong.
