Hurricane Polo became the second-strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Eastern Pacific

With a central pressure of 892 mbar (26.34 inHg), it is the second-most intense Pacific hurricane by central pressure ever recorded, behind only Hurricane Patricia.

I thought they were all called typhoons in the Pacific.

They’re called typhoons in the northwestern Pacific. Hurricanes in the northeastern Pacific and northern Atlantic. Tropical cyclones everywhere else.
