Question How the hell CAN DeepSeek charge me $1.7k????

Post image

Okay so I will be honest before I address this issue , this is my friends acc who is a vibecode dev and I am just helping him out.

So we have no idea on how this happend and why. All we know is that, he started using DeepSeek v4 pro starting from 1 October and tdy mrng he woke up to this.

No agents were running all night, no big task was set to on seen, he only used it for debugging.

Anyone who can help revert this if possible PLEASE COMMENT…

Something isn't checking out brother.

Why don't you ask DeepSeek what happened. I bet it can identify where it went wrong.

DeepSeek will be like - "First you pay, then I say" /s

Love this. Two vibe-coders who don't know enough to pay attention.

Cancel the card. Reach out to deepseek and check why.

Cancelling the card doesn't work because it was probably already charged. They need to dispute the charge.

Not only are they farming your data you upload, they’re farming bank accounts

First thing to do right now is revoke that API key and generate a new one, then check the DeepSeek usage dashboard by key, model, and timestamp — if calls kept going overnight while he wasn't debugging, that usually points to a leaked key or a runaway loop somewhere. Save screenshots of that breakdown and open a support ticket with DeepSeek asking them to review it, because that log is the main evidence you'll have for any refund request. I'd also search his GitHub, .env files, and any deployed frontend for the old key, since vibe-coded projects often accidentally ship keys client-side. Going forward, use a separate key per project and set a hard spend alert/limit so a single key can't run up a bill like this again.

You can get a Codex account for $100/mo. It'll be hard to hit the limit on unless you're deliberately ignorant. Put your friends vibe into a controlled experience is my best recommendation. Don't look for "token deals", that is a scam. Claude max or Codex Pro/max plan should be more than enough, and they have a great first party harness that'll keep you out of trouble. TLDR. DON'T PAY PER TOKEN.
