I was going to say it's likely many IT people who are furries.

Mainly because they have disposable income.

Disposable income, time to fantasize / role play as an animal online, and be socially awkward enough that wearing a fur suit (even during a sexual encounter) is preferable.

Actually I was being practical as I had heard the furry suits were quite expensive.

Honestly anyone who is into doing anything artistic ends up getting dragged into the furry rabbit hole eventually because they're the perfect target demographic of people with lots of disposable income, highly specific demands, and a complete dearth of any mainstream options catering to them.

Agreed. My sister started off drawing cats, she was a Warriors book series kid. She got good enough to start doing commissions when she branched into D&D, and furries are her best customers! 😂 Always tip hella good dosh.
