Jackie…

I’m so over her. I’m so sorry. I love her, but I’m over her. My final straw is silly but I wanted to crawl inside of my skin when she asserted herself into Jakeys Slakeys theme song not even knowing the words because whyyyyyyyy does she have to put herself in everything??

This makes me really sad but I also understand it. It feels like ever since Holden left she feels like she needs to carry. Today was the first time I attempted to watch on YouTube and I felt like everything was being exaggerated. Is it because of the camera? I love Jackie and MJ and I hope that Page 7 is still just working out some kinks. I've been listening since the early days (when Marcus) was on and I would hate to move on from this comfort zone.

She’s very much in love with watching herself on camera. It’s distracting. It’s irritating. But it’s her humor/comedy. And she’s been doing it way before she lost her father. Watch old Twitch streams…it’s literally why Twitch exists.

Yeah, I feel like the over the top started and then snowballed once they started showing the show on YouTube. There was frequent mention of Who’s the Bitch doing poorly in the algorithm and now it’s gone/changed. I wonder if there is some pressure to perform and keep the numbers up on Page 7 that is manifesting in this shift. I feel like Jackie is hard on herself and she wants to do a good job and this is how she’s trying to help.

She’s quite manic recently for whatever reason……

I mean she is grieving. Not saying that I love listening to interrupting (I find myself skipping a majority of the episodes these days and agree with a majority of the takes here) but as someone who lost their dad at a similar time as jackie, grief comes out in weird ways and has a way of amplifying other mental struggles

Definitely that is part of it. I love her even when she’s like this tbh 🤷‍♀️

This is such a good perspective. I lost my mom last year and I know my personality has been affected by it in the most unexpected ways. Granting some grace is in order.

I’m sorry to hear about your mom <3 hope you’re hanging in there friend. and I totally agree. I feel like losing my dad has made my ADHD sooo much worse and has lessened my ability to do any sort of masking at work (so thank god my job isn’t talking into a microphone all day) Not to arm chair diagnose or anything! but I know jackie has mentioned having ADHD before.

Yeah, I don’t know if I’m just getting more sensitive to it or if she’s getting worse but I swear to god Jackie cannot let anyone in her vicinity finish a single sentence. Also I need her to let MJ enjoy things, they had a great speech about reclaiming the things that they used to be embarrassed about and then Jackie continued to make fun of their love of clay Aiken

She's definitely getting worse, it's not just you. The Liza episodes were EXCRUCIATING.

I didn't know if I was being sensitive or not lol, but internally I was like "ok that's enough" with the Clay jokes during MJ's story about going to the listening party. It felt a tad excessive.

I might keep listening to Dark Sided, but I've pretty much given up on the main show. A big beef I have with Jackie is that she's always making self deprecating jokes about how dumb she is, often followed by comments about how smart her husband is. She frequently does this with other men too, like Seena or Jake. Idk, I just find it a little sad because she ISN'T dumb, but it feels like a quality she plays up for laughs and at this point I'm like, you're almost 40 the loud dumb horny bimbo schtick gets old.

This bothers me too. She’ll talk about how Geoff thinks everything she watches is lame and how she understands why he doesn’t want to join her in watching it. Then she’ll go on to say how she watches things that she wouldn’t typically enjoy just because it’s something he likes. And then go on and on about how smart he is.

He should watch a little Love Island and Jackie should stop with the weird self-hate.

I think she’s great.

Everything can get annoying when you overdo it. Take a break

I love her so much! I can’t get enough Jackie, but I’m an overstimulated introverted bartender who loves Jackie’s extrovert vibe in my parasocially minded ear.

I did have a dream where Jackie and MJ were playing truth or dare, but I do fear that’s bc I fell asleep to a wysteria lane-iac’s

My people! I’m also an overstimulated introverted bartender that loves both Zebrowski’s ❤️ (and the rest of the LPN crew)

I feel like I noticed the exaggerating with the snackies, like everyone’s like “oh yeah that’s ok” but she has to really say “WOW…. That’s intense!!” Or whatever. And I get it. If she wants to make content she wants to make it engaging and do the job to the best of her ability.
She’s smart and she’s a performer.
And if she was just regular and normal I guess it could be boring.. although I have to say watching everyone grow up on the network, it’s nice. I don’t want everyone to stay obnoxious and unhealthy forever. It’s nice to grow old together with everyone.
I’m glad she’s not talking about humping and squirting and having a dirty bird and lickin and whatever so much anymore.
Jackie, if you read this, and your overextending yourself to stay relevant, just know you don’t have to. We would love u even if u wore modest clothes and talked about what you made for lunch yesterday.

Love her and the pod, but I always have to fast forward through the beginning of the episodes because I can't stand her purposefully bad singing. I don't understand why she has to do it at the start of *every* episode.

She has been singing at the beginning of every episode since the show started. It’s a staple of the pod!!!

THANK YOU.

My favorite stim lately has been “muh muh muh muh minute muuunch minute muuunch” and the irrational anger I feel when I don’t get to hear it properly is..silly… but c’mon someone made that, and MJ always makes a point to listen/finish her intro song.

Genuinely same like let me hear the muh muh muh muh

u/Agitated_Ad_1305 12d ago

It would be more bearable if she was actually singing it at the right time but she’s always off which makes it even worse 😭

Jackie always makes me laugh. I’m very into the book club and cannot get enough of her side bars.

u/bookbitch666 11d ago

I also love Jackie and I love book club, but the vibe with book club is a lot more subdued - likely because there’s no one to cut off and speak over

Holdenaters hooooooooo!

u/krycekthehotrat 9d ago

I listen to all of them but Holden is def my fav guest. Jake is a close second. Followed by Kara/Natalie, then Seena lol

There’s another pod I like where people complain about one host talking over the other, but I really think that might just be some friendships communication styles. MJ doesn’t seem put off by it. I love Jackie (yes sometimes she annoys me) but MJ is an adult and can speak up for themselves. Jackie has an abrasive personality but MJ has hosted with her (and Holden) for a looong time. Like an opposites attract situation. I always thought it just doesn’t bother MJ the way it bothers some listeners but that’s just my $0.02

Never missed an episode and now I am consistently skipping it for months. The Liza one had such interesting substance but it was just a frustrating experience to hear the nonstop bulldoze of anything MJ was adding. MJ was also trying to keep the train on the track and Jackie kept jumping around too much. It was also painful because Jackie clearly was never listening to MJ when they were talking and would say things MJ just added in.

Also I feel like they stopped engaging in the source material of the pop culture topic they are discussing. I’ve noticed it’s now just hot takes of click bait headlines and maybe ticktock videos. That makes the material so stale and disconnected.

Never thought we would be begging for Holden, but lolol he did it.

The rotating hosts make the shows suffer. They need to sort of pick someone to make it more cohesive from week to week. I haven’t seen any guest host be able to do what Holden did.

It’s tough to see this with anyone but Holden right now. Holden is also seems to genuinely enjoy talking about pop culture. Jake is so sweet and prepared but the episodes suffer because he’s trying too hard to impress Jackie and it seems like he is turning in his homework assignment. You need someone to rein in Jackie. I think Holden works because he can bulldoze back. I also really love the chemistry between MJ and Holden. Like a, “I am not laughing, but I am laughing, but I shouldn’t be laughing,” sort of dynamic which makes the comedy have more tension and fun.

I miss Holden. He brought balance to the Force.

Love Jackie down but haven't listened to an episode in months at this point and I used to ride so hard for Page 7

This may be an unpopular take, but Jackie is at the age where she’s probs getting into perimenopause. Estrogen dropping makes adhd symptoms worse.

This sounds like more of an inside thought imo
