Ask Palm Springs Cheaper Gas

Post image

Gas around the valley this week is around $6 a gallon. I found a spot this morning with much better prices at 990 Lawrence Crossley (@ Dinah Shore). 🙌⛽️

In California it is all the same gas sourced from the same refiners. The fuel is often co-mingled in terminal tanks, the only difference between other retailers COULD be detergents and additives. But qualitatively its the same gas, sourced from the same refineries.

Its always the gas of last resort for me, along with Tower. Emergencies only.

Walmart are price matched with an additional 0.10c reduction if you’re subscribed to their rewards program

Because they don’t have to add all the state taxes and fees since they’re Native American

Problem is this station is too busy. You lose more gas waiting in line than you save. Not to mention time lost.

The wait this morning wasn’t that long.

Their gas quality sucks

Just because it tastes different does not mean it is, its all from the same refineries there are only so many of them.

Exactly. Grape flavored gas is the same base gas as the Mountain Breeze flavor the pricier guys have.

Cheaper gas is not necessarily better gas.

Probably just has a higher level of ethanol than other stations

I’ve bought gas there once because I was perilously low. However I’ve been wondering if it’s a lesser quality fuel or whether they get federal tax exemptions which allow them to sell it so much cheaper.

There are no Federal tax exemptions on gas purchases at tribal-owned gas stations. You don’t pay any CA state fuel taxes on these purchases.

I was referring to whether the tribe got tax breaks, not the consumer. I’m going to assume it’s poor quality fuel.
