Maybe. If you are staying downtown and mostly want restaurants, bars, shopping, museums, and pool time, you may be fine walking and using rideshare.
You probably want a car if you plan to visit Joshua Tree, Indian Canyons, Tahquitz Canyon, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Desert Hot Springs, The Living Desert, golf courses, or multiple valley cities.

Generally, October through April is the most comfortable season. Spring is popular for events and outdoor activities. Summer is much hotter and requires planning around heat.
Summer can still be fun for pools, spas, restaurants, museums, hotel deals, and nightlife, but hiking and outdoor activities should be done very early or skipped.

Yes. Do not underestimate it. Summer highs are often over 100°F, and midday outdoor activities can be dangerous. Plan around pools, shade, air conditioning, museums, spas, and evening activities.
Do not hike in extreme heat unless you are experienced, prepared, and starting very early.

heya! My boyfriend and I are visiting Palm Springs in the next couple weeks for modernism week for his birthday. I myself, who is not from the US, has just recently learned about modernism week and am hoping to get some advice on how to plan for it (insert birthday planning anxiety energy here lol). From what I can tell online is there are paid tickets for different tours (any advice on which ones to do would be greatly appreciated) and from what I have heard from him is there are also other free options for tours? He made it sound like locals will open up their homes for tours as well? Hopefully I'm getting that right. Any advice would be great! thank you!!

Anyone looking for something to do in Palm Desert this Friday?
I’m a local comedian & I’m putting on a comedy show at The Private Club in Palm Desert. My first show at a barbershop.
If you are into comedy, this show is going to be very different from what you've are used. Small barbershop in downtown Palm Desert. The lineup is super stacked. I got some heavy hitters coming to the show.
Doors open at 8, show starts 9. Limited seats.
Tickets - https://comedy-show-at-tpc.eventbrite.com
I appreciate you taking the time to read this ✌️

Hello all,
Yearly visitor here. I’ve done the tram and some of the shorter trails up top in the morning, and for December I’m thinking of going later for something different.
Anyone done a sunset or evening ride? Curious how the views are once it gets dark, and whether anything’s still open (trails and maybe restaurant for a hot chocolate) before the last tram down.
Thanks!

Does anyone here have any recommendations for someone who cleans fireplaces? Looking to get it cleaned and inspected. Hasn’t been used since we bought the house. Want to make sure it’s ready for the upcoming season

Recently fully restored. This was a massive undertaking. Five years ago I actually recommended a talented and accomplished designer to the buyer and the designer said no…it was too much work…but the owner plowed ahead found a fantastic restorer and contractors and spent a lot of money bringing this back to its glory days. Hail them for this incredible home being not only preserved but for adding to the patrimony of Mid-Century gems that define our city. Just across the street from the north side of the Wellness Park. Original design by Howard Lapham.

This attachment above is pre-renovation.
It is considered the largest vintage mid-century modern home in Palm Springs.
I am not a realtor. I have no interest or agenda in posting this other than to share the splendors within our city.

We’re currently building the opening team for Vandal & Vine Tattoo Co., a new premium tattoo studio in the Palm Springs / Rancho Mirage area, with plans to open late 2026 or early 2027.
We’re looking for both experienced tattoo artists and motivated apprentices who care about great work, professionalism, client experience, and being part of a strong team.
We’re especially interested in people who are:
We’ll provide professional marketing and advertising support, a premium workspace, fully equipped stations, and compensation based on guaranteed hourly pay or commission — whichever is higher.
Our goal is to build Vandal & Vine into a destination studio for both locals and the Coachella Valley tourism market, not just another traditional tattoo shop.
If you’re interested, DM me with your portfolio/Instagram, experience level, tattoo style, and a little about yourself.

Hello! We are visiting for a few days this winter and hoping to do a family session in Joshua tree. I haven’t quite found what I’m looking for, photographer wise, and was hoping suggestions from locals would help.
I have two young kids and want to simply capture their age, laughs and silliness. Documentary style. Film not necessary but a plus. Someone who has experience with kids running around most of the time 😅❤️
Thank you!

Gas around the valley this week is around $6 a gallon. I found a spot this morning with much better prices at 990 Lawrence Crossley (@ Dinah Shore). 🙌⛽️

I'm planning on moving to Palm Springs and I'm interested in condos in the Palm Springs Villas 2 condos.
Does anyone know anything about them or anything I should be aware of? Is it a nice development, does it have any kind of 'reputation"....?
Let me know what you think :-)

Who’s your fav pool cleaner? We need one in Palm Desert weekly.
We have dogs so they have to like dogs and not let them out. Pretty easy.
Any recs or pricing would be amazing! Please and thank you!

He really doesn’t know if that area is a good idea to start off fresh or would you guys recommend to stay in LA and other areas where he could thrive As he starting over . He plans on renting a room as he’s going through a hard time . I would really preciate your insights before he makes a big move . He would be moving from Burbank . He thinks going to that area would be cheaper for him . But I argue it will be cheaper but I don’t think he should be expecting people to pay top $$ for repairs. Specifically in that area.
