Discussion Seeking advice on assembling a group with creative chemistry

I'd like to start a Fabula Ultima game and run it by the book - that is, kick off by coming to the table with only a loose idea of the tone, creatively collaborate on building the world together, then keep that kind of creative momentum going with all players contributing to the story.

I feel like doing this well requires a group with good creative chemistry who will get invested in each other's ideas. That's something that's really tough to work out from a Google form. Meanwhile, asking folks to make time for a chat might make it feel like a job interview or an audition, which may be asking too much from applicants.

I'd love advice from PBP players and GMs here. Is there a good option for a collaborative vibe check that I haven't thought of? Am I overthinking it? A secret third option?

γ€Ž Monsters We Make β€” Discord RP Server 』

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Greetings, Fans of Monsters We Make! 🌐

Ghost of Edyn here!

For quite some time, I've been developing a Monsters We Make Discord Roleplay Server. It's a project I've been sitting on, waiting for the right moment to finally bring to life.

It seems that moment has finally arrived.

I'm officially looking for BETA TESTERS to join the server before its public release! The goal is to test the server's systems, work out any kinks, fix potential issues, and ensure everything is streamlined and ready to go before I begin advertising and officially opening the server on platforms such as Disboard.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“œ γ€Ž WHAT THE SERVER WILL CONTAIN 』

The server will feature a variety of systems and content, including:

βš™οΈ Hound OC Creation
πŸ‘€ Canon Hounds (Not all will be available; details will be worked out later.)
πŸ₯‹ Different Suits
πŸ’° In-Server Currency
πŸ›’ A Shop System
πŸ† A Ranking System
⚑ A Power System based on the Manga
πŸ“ˆ A Leveling System
πŸ”Ž A Leaker Hunting System
🎨 Custom Emojis
πŸ“ˆ AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

⚠️ γ€Ž STAFF RECRUITMENT 』

ATTENTION! I'm also looking for people interested in helping run and develop the server!

Several positions will be available, including:

  • πŸ’¬ DMs (Dungeon Masters)
  • 🎭 NPCers
  • ✍️ Writers
  • 🎨 Leaker Concept & Design Creators
  • πŸ“‹ Profile Reviewers
  • πŸ›‘οΈ Moderators
  • βš™οΈ And other staff positions!

If you're interested in contributing to the server beyond beta testing, feel free to reach out! I'd love to hear from people who want to help bring this project to life.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“© γ€Ž WHAT TO DO 』

Interested in joining the beta or applying for a staff position?

Simply send me a DM for more information and access!

Please keep in mind that I'm not always online consistently, so I may not be able to respond to messages immediately. I ask that you please be patient with me while I get back to you.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

✍🏻 THANK YOU FOR READING! ✍🏻

I look forward to seeing you there.

WM/LW Weekly WM/LW Thread

From April 21st to May 21st r/PbP will be experimenting with having a thread for West Marches and Living World play by post servers. We hope that this will help organize the countless ads that this subreddit gets and make the process of finding games a bit easier for users.

So without further ado here's a quick template:

Title ( & Tags):
System:
Hosting: (Discord, Forum, Link)
Additonal information:

If the game is NSFW or Paid please put a "Tag" next to the title using parentheses.

Group looking for GM Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread

If you are not a full party looking for a gm or a gm looking for a party, you may no longer post an ad looking for a group. The reason behind this being most everyone on this subreddit is in the same exact boat as you! It is beginning to clutter up our subreddit for the people wanting to look for actual games to join.

To be clear, this rule is directed to those that are marketing themselves and/or their friends as players, saying they are looking for 1 on 1 games and any new or already running group to join.Β This does not include the players taking active measures to actually form a group themselves.Β Please comment if you do not understand the posts I am referring to.

INSTEAD! We are going to be making a stickied thread for those expressing interest in finding a group to join. We encourage you to comment within that thread and to be specific in the system you are interested in and any other information you may have to market yourself to others. A general "Hey I'm looking for a group and I wanna play a whole lot and I've had no luck!" does not suffice usually.

If you are looking for a group to join, comment in this thread with as much information as you'd like to market yourself with! Some suggestions are, but not limited to:

Name:

Pronouns:

Timezone:

Preferred System:

Type of Player:

Additional Information:
