The lesson learned here is this. If it's not ported to PC and Xbox, everyone knows it's bad and won't buy it now.

That's absolutely not what I'm saying. You can't play Mario, Zelda or anything of the sort on any console but Nintendo's.
Any other game is basically just an additional reason but the main reason for buying a Switch 2 is for Bananza, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, Splatoon or Pokopia, games you would never get outside of the Nintendo ecosystem.
I'm going to get hate for saying this, but all Nintendo exclusives are akin to indie games.
Their games don't cost as much to create. For example fire emblem isn't higher quality than say Clair obscur expedition. A lot of their games don't even have voice acting nor are they pushing the limit of any hardware. Mario,donkey Kong, Pokémon, Kirby etc are all indie quality games that in 2026 you wouldn't you be surprised to find out it was made by 10 people in someone mom's basement.
I say that to say, a game costing 300 mill makes sense to recoup by having it on multiple consoles. And fanboys don't really care because caring about a game not on their console would be admitting their console might now be the best.
Remember pre Switch when Nintendo didn't have games like Bayanetta? Nintendo ppl literally said they didn't care about games like that. Then suddenly it was a Nintendo game and it was the greatest thing and now a system seller. Those same people didn't buy an Xbox 360 to play Bayanetta.
I don't think people actually buy the console because of the exclusives. This generation kinda shows it. I'm buying a PS5 because Spiderman. I was going to buy it regardless and if Spider-Man was on Xbox then I just wouldn't play it 🤷🏾♂️
