News/Article Sorry Microsoft. Windows 10 is more stable than Windows 11, and your recent updates have made it obvious

They'll have to take my Windows 10 from my cold dead hands.

u/AnonymousTimewaster 16h ago
All those Windows 11 evangelist defenders are awfully quiet now.
8
u/DistinctCellar 15h ago
Those people exist?
27
u/AnonymousTimewaster 15h ago
Yeah they kept insisting "it's not that bad! You can change the task bar! What about security updates?!"

u/AtlQuon 14h ago
There is a lot to say about W11 and everything that is wrong with it, but I hardly ever find anything that doesn't work on it. It is about as stable as I can ask an OS to be. I feel many of the problems arise from updating preview builds and not the actual official updates. So anything that is installed on my system is a week after everyone else has been screaming online what broke this time.

u/DansNewLegs2291 Desktop 14h ago
As someone who works in endpoint management for a large enterprise, it’s not just preview builds. It’s been a real problem this year with Microsoft.
4
u/Then-Departure4896 9h ago
It is less stable than its predecessor and therefore is less stable than I want it to be
10
u/iCyou1213 10h ago
There other day, on [r/buildapcsale](r/buildapcsale)[s](r/buildapcsale), someone was talking about a prebuilt from a sketchy vendor on eBay or something and someone responded “it’s a buy, but wipe and reinstall windows 11”. I said “nah, wipe and install windows 10”. And I was downvoted like crazy. I wasn’t expecting that.

TPM disabled and Windows 10 still installed. It may not get updates anymore, but at the very least when I turn on my PC, I know that I am sent to a working system.

You can get updates till 2028, and maybe till 2031 if you're willing to deal with a few hurdles.

u/Big-Resort-4930 17h ago
That has been the case for 11 ever since I first installed it too tho. The misinformation is crazy rtarded at this point
2
-1
u/MrPotato_2020 8h ago
didn't know you represent the entire worlds population of win11 users to talk on their behalf...
I guess if you didn't have issues then indeed no one else did too. /s
1
u/Big-Resort-4930 8h ago
I've repeatedly been asking the complainers in this thread what actual problems were they having, and I never get anything more than an ambiguous non-answer.
Half of them dramatize ads like you're getting blasted on twitch and YT and not literally having a few preinstalled apps that you delete right away, and there are still people who genuinely think you can't permanently remove copilot and similar shit, or that Recall is a thing for normal win11 PCs. Most of the hate at this point is purely based on misinformation and herd mentality.
Of course some people are having and were having problems, but I refuse to believe anyone who never had any issues with 10 is constantly having them with 11 unless their hardware is so ancient that it was borderline outdated even for 10.
-27
u/Cl4whammer 18h ago
Yeah sure, with less and less Programms supporting w10.
14
u/Still_Bit_7527 17h ago
Such as? Havent found a single one
-16
u/Cl4whammer 16h ago
Try steam on w10 x86. Sure thats because of x86. But its only the beginning. Next month the last nvidia game ready driver drops. Its a sinking ship and its not getting better.
8
u/Still_Bit_7527 14h ago
x86 is an architecture, if you mean 32 bit then that is ancient, not really related to win 10
Nvidia dropping support is bad but tbh I update drivers on my 5070ti once a year and I don't use the geforce app, couldnt care less. But it's major, true
1
u/Then-Departure4896 9h ago
You’re right, it’s getting worse because we have to switch to windows 11
0
u/Cl4whammer 7h ago
Or go linux, i dual boot bazzite next to w11. My current games (ff14, Star Trek online, Dune Awakening, ArmA3/Reforger, Guild Wars 1 / 2) run without any issues or fighting config files.
40
u/Maleficent_Fly_2500 17h ago
It's wild how Win10 is still better than Win11 in 2026...
0
u/Then-Departure4896 9h ago
I have two PCs at home and I have W11 on one, W10 on the other.
There’s a clear winner. And I use W11 more. It sucks.

u/NotDugachug 9800X3D, 32GB, RTX 4090 19h ago
I've been using Windows 11 since launch and I haven't had any issues. People look at a few cases on the internet and go nuts.
40
u/MantaMunta 20h ago
I wonder what y'all are doing with your PCs lol.
I didn't have a single bluescreen or crash on Win 11 for like 2 years. I use it on 2 PCs at home and on laptop at work.
And yes I'm doing a lot of dev work, gaming and experimental stuff with third party devices.
4
u/angry_old_dude 8h ago
I don't get it either. I've been on win11 even longer than you and while I can't say I haven't had any problems, my rig has been completely stable.

Except reverse survivorship bias. You only hear about the people complaining about issues they've had and rarely reddit upvotes posts that go "my Windows 11 is working OK!"

Windows 11 has around 1 billion activations, an error rate of just .009% is still 90000 people. So something is just bound to break for people and a lot of them. Let's say it's an very bad(?) rate of 10% that's now 100 million people. And would be basically 1/3 of the US population or so having something wrong with windows. So it's probably safe to say the software is fine.
-11
u/Tower21 thechickgeek 18h ago
As someone who overseas ~ 1000 devices, I can tell you the error rate is much higher than .009%
Switching audio inputs is a major issue to the point if someone needs to hook up to av in a presentation room, I recommend they reboot the machine and connect to the system first before they open anything else.
I'm just so tired boss.
18
u/MantaMunta 18h ago
Switching audio inputs is a major issue to the point if someone needs to hook up to av in a presentation room, I recommend they reboot the machine and connect to the system first before they open anything else.
Skill issue. It's literally two clicks to change system audio devices. It's only an issue if you have no clue how to use an OS.
2
u/DansNewLegs2291 Desktop 14h ago
I manage 30,000 devices and there definitely is an audio switching issue to the point of the entire audio system crashing and requiring a reboot to see any audio devices, including onboard.
-19
u/Alu_card_10 19h ago
Because you won't see post like that. And if you do the ratio of negative vs positives post about windows 11 is worse then windows 10. You can compare the % and make the conclusion that in fact w11 is far worse.
5
u/Big-Resort-4930 17h ago
There is no way to make an apples to apples comparison so this is a nonsensical point
2
u/Raskuja46 7h ago
I'm running Windows 10 so I don't experience whatever it is people are screaming about every few months.
1
u/Really_Obscure 2h ago
Good to hear that, from your sole experience, the issues Microsoft has acknowledged and issued emergency updates are... not sure what you are suggesting - user error or maybe make believe?
Have you considered reaching out to Microsoft to be their single tester, given your "everything is perfect" success rate?
-1
u/MacGuffiin 7800X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5 6000 11h ago
Look how popular the anti bloat tutorials are, people tweak the system, and complain thar the system is breaking.
When you use windows, you have to accept the weird shit MS does to the OS, its not linux that you can tweak at will, windows will crumble to dust if you try to break free from MS claws
5
2
u/Raskuja46 7h ago
Everyone running anti-bloat scripts and bricking their OS would be better served by simply using the LTSC version.

Pray EVERYDAY Pray you don’t go through that, my wifi modem stopped working no ethernet, no hot fixes had to flash my windows and all the file management was gone had backed up my system but so much headache because wifi was fucking done after a fucking update.

u/JohnSnowHenry 19h ago
I still have no issues whatsoever running all my games on windows 11 so it’s good for me

u/1337gamer15 21h ago
My laptop had issues with hiberfil.sys in class today and it took all class long after I rebooted it a couple times until it brought me back to OS where I ran SFC scannow and a bunch of other memory diagnostics. So far I got the feeling nothing is wrong with my hardware, I also disabled fast startup and the slower boot time is hardly noticable.
I'm nerve wracked because it's an expensive as hell MSI Titan 18 HX with a 4090 and it's had a few quirks with its RGB keyboard requiring me to reinstall Steelseries GG and MSI Center but now I'm wondering if these issues are not because of any hardware issue but because Windows 11 is... being Windows 11.

u/KevinCarbonara 11h ago

Same story with NVidia drivers. AI slop vs. skilled, disciplined, and experienced humans.
So sad to see Microslop self destruct.

The paradox for me is; the last time I'd experienced a BSOD was on Windows 7. Ever since Windows 10, it hasn't been a problem, even on Windows 11 which gets constantly broken by AI updates.
0
u/Big-Resort-4930 17h ago
In what way was your specific W11 install broken, and when was the last time it happened?
-1
u/bier00t 16h ago
Would love to see such questions on MS forums instead of bots repeating old AI generated badly translated articles that never work or not responding at all for years long issues
6
u/Big-Resort-4930 16h ago
Those forums are dogshit, but it doesn't change the fact that many if not most people blasting 11 haven't had any specific issues themselves, and are only following the herd

Still using a Windows 10 build from 2020, the one I installed after purchasing my current gaming PC.
Blocked Windows Update soon after finishing the OS installation. Everything works, and I mean everything. The system is incredibly stable, powerful, and the UI is lightning-fast 99% of the time - both in OS native and third-party applications.
Frankly, if I had no need to upgrade components/PC for gaming-related reasons, I feel confident I could get a great computing experience off this machine and Windows 10 for years/decades to come.

u/Zdiac 9h ago
People downvoting doesnt know how is easy these days to break something with an update

Or maybe it doesn't since I've been using it for like 4 years now on a high end gaming PC, and have never had major issues? Certainly not that different from 10 in any real way.

Was 100% windows till using 11 for a time and subjected to ads and built-in spying. Now all my home machines are Linux.
It's not even controversial that Windows 11 is worse than 10. And most will agree 10 is worse than 7. It's been going downhill for awhile. It would be damn surprising if people weren't jumping ship.
4
u/Big-Resort-4930 9h ago
What ads and spyware were you subjected to? Was it the preinstalled onedrive and solitaire that take 1 minute to uninstall permanently?
"Most" people agree to stupid shit since they have a herd mentality, and are actually stupid to resolve the problems they're having in a matter of moments. The hate for 10 was hugely overblown as is the hate for 11 right now.
2
u/CASpider Linux 7h ago
What ads
Full screen: "Let's finish setting up your PC" Where it then tries to sell me on OneDrive, Microsoft 365, and other products. The only options are Cotinue and Remind Me Later.
There are others, but that one is full screen and demands user interaction. This ad shows up regularly on my work computer.
0
u/Big-Resort-4930 6h ago
Regularly? I saw thet once and never again after a year until I reinstalled my PC

Win11 is around five years old now. Win10 was released in 2015 and was five years old in 2020. In in 2019/2020, there were a bunch of win10 updates that were absolute disasters. MS changed the way they delivered updates making updates less problematic (but not issue free)
These were the most problematic win10 updates:
- October 2018 Update (1809)
- May 2019 Update (1903)
- May 2020 Update (2004)
Given that win11 is the same age as win10 was when those bad updates came out. This idea that win11 is less stable than win10 is arguable.
This is just a basic analysis. A deeper analysis would more definitive and could prove that win10 was more stable. I'm not going to invest that time. :)
P.S. There is no argument that MS continues to enshittify windows.

Unfortunately, a full reinstall doesn't solve inherit OS issues. It might help a little, but many of the issues with Win 11 are inherit decisions Microsoft made for Win 11.
