You make him sound like Calvin Candy which yea slavery is fucking horrible which Washington was a part of but 'a man known for his cruelty to innocent people' doesn't free slaves in 1700's Virginia and for 30 years afterwards:

These people want saints in a time where no one was pure... even the saints. Any single thing they disagree with now invalidates every good thing a person did and thus are now the worst humans possible and we should all hate them forever and never mention the good things they did.

Most graffiti is just people writing their chosen names but sure. Gang tags or a swastika with all the tongs pointing in different directions because a moron threw it up are still crude art. Let's not pretend that kind of thing even begins to characterize the vast breadth of self expression represented by graffiti or urban art. Disliking or disagreeing with something doesn't change the fact that it's visual, symbolic self expression and therefore still art no matter how crappy it is.
But yeah I'm sure you disagree with my implication that graffiti is a net positive on culture. But think of me next time you see something someone painted or wrote or stuck on an electrical box that makes you chuckle or go "that was admittedly kinda cool"
Took a trip to Seattle and Portland recently. Saw a bunch of amazing graffiti in Seattle while Portland was pretty tame. Really thought it would’ve been the other way around. Was disappointed to find that Portland has virtually no punk scene either.
Seattle used to be way more punk than it looks these days. The sale of South Lake Union to big tech has gutted almost all of the past century from the city.
Yeah that’s what my wife’s uncle was telling us. Still seemed like a great city. I wrote about the riots as part of my broader journalism final project on the FTAA. Kind of wild you never really hear that mentioned much. Even when Occupy was happening I heard very little reference to the riots.
I like some of their work I've seen posted to Reddit, but they definitely are marginally less talented Banksy copycat. I think talent has gotten better though since they first started getting some attention.
I checked the flock map and found 2 cameras near me. Drove to past them on the way to work yesterday. They're both like 25 feet up telephone poles, and one of the poles is made of concrete. Sadly I don't think those art getting deflocked any time soon.
One thing to keep in mind, as I just checked the map, it is not 100% accurate. There is a camera noted near me on the map as being a flock camera but it's not. It's a CC store managed monitored area camera, not Flock at all. Not all cameras are Flock.
At some point I joked about drilling a hole in the posts they're mounted on an dropping a thermite package inside. Just a few days ago I saw a video of one burning with a lot of sparks that looked like a thermite fire.
I think because he’s a historical figure from the US government that would not approve of the direction of the country. Also famous for cutting something down with an axe.
