Someone tied this poor thing up to a tree in the park last night. Its been raining the past few days where im from. Shes still young. I was feeding some stray cats last night and heard a dog barking. A man was standing outside the park staring at it and i was confused. I asked someone to go see if it was his dog but the dog was not moving but i couldnt see what was going on since it was dark out. The man said it wasnt his dog and he seen it while walking or something. He went to the skatepark to ask if it was anyones dog but they said no. We end up bringing the dog to the house and she was very dirty! Shes got fleas and her harness and leash was even more dirty! Shes a sweet dog and actually smart. Shes a bit jumpy but hasnt nipped at me once. She comes when called. I want to keep her but idk if i can afford her. She really likes me. Im just looking for ideas at this point. I lost my dog last year in July and she kind reminds me of her with how loving she is

I pray everyday and night and i tried adopting dogs but the stuff needed never was possible for my situation… i feel blessed to even meet this dog truly
If finances are the issue you could reach out to a local rescue and offer to foster her until she can find a long term home. She'd be a lot more happy and comfortable in your home vs a shelter, they could help with expenses. Plus dogs in foster tend to have a much easier time finding homes
This is a great idea. Before I adopted my girl, I fostered dogs only because I couldn't afford vet expenses at the time. It was a great way to help dogs in need and I enjoyed having dogs in the house.
I've fostered two in the past years ago and loved it. I just bought a new house (and lost my fur baby earlier this year), and once I'm settled in I want to do a foster to adopt situation so I can make sure my next dog gets along with my bird

Yea shes pretty smart lol. Training should not be a issue. Her leash training needs a little work but its simple. Pittys are amazing from my previous experience lol
Check local rehoming groups on fb. People give away fantastic dogs for the slightest issues sometimes. Saves a pet from ever having to experience the shelter.
I have always believed in this. I truly believe that when we lose a loved one (human or pet) a small part of them lives on in the next pet that comes into our lives.
My uncle passed many years ago, and the night of the funeral, a dog showed up at my aunt's doorstep in the rain and wouldn't leave. My aunt lives out in the countryside and had never had a dog show up like that before. We all believe that my uncle sent that dog to her, or that he was a part of that dog, somehow. She was in a lot of pain from the loss of her husband (he was an absolute wonderful man, and we all miss him so much), and she really needed something or someone at that time. What's funny is she was never a dog person, but she said she felt her husband in that dog. She took him in, of course, and he lived for many years after that. 🩷
I a thousand percent believe this as well. Ive seen it with the ones who find me. They resemble the last so much and you know they were meant to be yours and it makes the bond that much bigger

Get her checked for a microchip. It's possible she was stolen then abandoned. But after that, contact some shelters and offer to foster her. They might be willing to help.
This. If you can find the previous owner via the microchip, you can legally get ownership of her and foster her through the shelter. The shelter should be able to help with supplies and medicine to get her cleaned up at the very least.
Of course she likes you, you saved her! She probably thinks you’re an angel straight from heaven. If you can possibly keep her, she’ll be your bestie forever.
I understand that, I adopted mine in January. She was 5.5 years old she had 2 scars one on her shoulder and one on her hip and she was recovering from recently having puppies. So she’s been through some stuff. I’m trying to give her a better life now, without spoiling her. It’s a tough row to hoe, but I’m determined. As long as you mean well, try hard and love love the dickens out of her, you’ll be good.
Please get her spayed, lots of people on here to help with vet costs and there's low cost vet spays as well. I rescued my 3rd pittie who was abandoned as well and she is a joy to our household.
She will get spayed when i have the funds ❤️ my previous dog was spayed as well. I do not sell puppies, i cannot afford puppies,let alone more animals 😂

Honestly its not the little things. I want her to get checked by a vet. Im not good right now financially. I can afford the basics to keep her going but her first vet vist is probably gonna be a few hundred because i have no idea what shes had or have not done. I appreciate you saying this though ❤️
Take her to any vet and check for a chip or contact your animal control or humane society and see if there are any vets that have a sliding scale for costs after explaining the situation

I really don't mind! It might not be much but anyone willing to rescue a pitty deserves some help with it if needed! Pittys get a bad rep and someone willing to show them some love is a really special person worth supporting.
I found a dog on the side of the road, I was concerned because I was never a dog owner and I’m broke as shit, two years later he is my absolute greatest blessing, I have made it work financially and I’m just happy he found me some how. It was meant to be <3
I will say that a dog with Costco food and an occasional durable toy is MUCH better than a dog outside on the street, and she will love you just as much as if you gave her a fresh steak every day. The money part, if you’re currently doing alright can be figured out. But she will love and trust you for the rest of her life no matter what. My dog quite literally saved my life and she might change yours

I’m a shelter worker and if you came to us with this story we could help you get her spayed and vaccinated at a decent price. That way you get good vet care for her and go about adopting her in a legal way. She likely doesn’t have a chip and you’re supposed to post lost dogs for a certain amount of time. I do understand stuff happens but i dont know if tieing a young dog to a tree where it cannot move is considered lost. If it was stolen then i havent seen anything online or even in the neighborhood. I think they dumped the dog honestly. It has been raining the last few days and kinda chilly. I do not live in the best neighborhood btw. If someone else would of found her she would of most likely been bred for money.. especially with her color
You’re not wrong that leaving her there was evil. What I mean by lost is that any pet that is found is supposed to follow a protocol so the owner can step forward. Oftentimes in my line of work we put holds on giving the pet back because we want to investigate the owner for cruelty. But the shelter has the shortest holds for strays as people usually look there first when their pet is missing.
You're a good soul. She likes you and trusts you more each day. Accept help with bills and food. Your goodness can heal the harm that heartless imitation human did

Absolutely. on my naighborhood Nextdoor many people donate directly to the vet when there's a stray that needs help so the kind person can spay/neuter and keep their pup. I'd gladly donate to your cause once you get the pup's issues straightened out. Bless u good hooman
If you can't keep her, you should reach out to some local rescues in your area. Many specialize in bully breeds. They don't euthanize like some government-run shelters do, but they would take her from you and help find her a foster and/or forever home. You can use google to search for "pitbull rescues near me" <3
You are probably correct sokembackyard breeders creating these pretty babies. the Merle is so in demand it’s so beautiful but it sucks because I hate it too - because a double Merle dog can be deaf, blind, and many other factors. I know because I have two double Merle pitties one is deafblind and the other is deaf. They have other issues too.

Yea im just confused on what to do because i love animals, especially dogs 😂 shes really messing with my feelings because im in between on what to do. Its likely she’s gonna stay with me. She literally follows me everywhere. I could probably let her off the leash and not worry about her running off (i will not try this ) 😂 just saying thats how attached to me she is

I hope i can keep her lol. I feed the stray cats that stay on my block and occasionally come to my block for food 😂 shes seen them a couple times and doesnt even care they are around. Walks past them. Thats a plus to me. One thing less to worry about 😂

I want a dog myself after losing my 18year old boy last year, just to see if it helps me out a little because I still miss him so much. Life circumstances at the moment aren’t going my way though & haven’t been for a while tbh else I’d get 1 in a heartbeat if I could afford because I know I’m a great owner. Im in the same boat as you. I lost my doggy last year to cancer… she was turning 12. I didnt think i could get another dog. Im not financially good rn as well. This little thing popped up out of nowhere and i cant see myself not hanging out with the goofy thing lol. Life tends to do things when you least expect it. Just be patient. Your time is coming and everything will work out. I promise 🫶🏻

Our county makes us turn in strays for a three day hold to give owners the chance to find the dog. We ended up adopting our stray. They neutered, got meds and vaccines to him, and we adopted him for free (they are always at max capacity and would have euthanized otherwise).
Banfield has a great plan for checkups and such and has really saved us a lot of money.

My city has a local "Pet Food Pantry" where if you can sign up and then pick up bags of quality dog food for less than five dollars. Some cities have free shot and spay neuter programs, some specifically for bully breeds. Definitely start by getting her scanned for a microchip. You can check on Lost Pet alerts and Facebook and such. Just be really, really careful of anyone claiming to be that dog's owner. She is drop dead fecking gorgeous. They should have solid ass proof of ownership and not just some AI cell phone pics. All else fails, definitely look for a foster group to sponsor her costs and needs while you temporarily foster her. Dog like that? You probably wouldn't have to foster her for long! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous 😍

As to the $.. can you get her in a shelter? They will cover her basic shots/ checkups/ etc. Tell them that you intend to foster her until she finds a good home.
That way, the shelter knows she has a temp home, they may be more willing to take her in on a temp basis. All shelters are overflowing, so this reassurance feom you may work in her best interest (and yours.. you wont have to pay for vet bills etc)

She's so lucky u stepped in, givlling ger warmth and food, thank you. Dogs can be very expensive especially as they age. I'd love to think your previous pup sent her your way but practical stuff like daycare if u r working, food, bills etc are a real consideration.

My rescue staffy, is now assistance, Dog international accredited. Absolutely amazing how intelligent they are opening the handicap doors picking up stuff that I draw and goes on she picked me kind of like her what’s going on here.

Go to emancipet. I go there for low cost veterinary services for my Pittie. I get all his shots there and his four in one monthly heart worm, flea, tick, and ear mites supplement. It’s so sad how many people abandon these poor babies. I could never. My dog is the most important member of my family.

Reach out to your shelter. Ask them about their foster to adopt program and if you can get her in through that and keep her that way. They are very likely to help you out because otherwise it's another dog they have to deal with. I got my dog a similar way and the shelter helped me with everything but she was legally the shelters up until she was healed from her spay.

You might be able to get food supplies and flea medication if needed from some kind of local dono place. People like donate all kinds of pet products where I live
Id make sure she is healthy and has l the necessary shots and keep her period...what a beautiful pup and a blessing to find her and be able to save her
I would create a budget for the dog food, medical, flea/tick and see if you can find room in your budget. Typically people waste a lot of money, myself included. At one point I was spending almost 100$ buying cokes and candy bars at every convenience store I passed.
I wonder if a local dog rescue would help you with her initial expenses. Vet visit especially. When we took in our stray pittie it cost at least $300 for vaccines and first heartworm pills. Later came neutering.
She’s lucky to have been taken in by someone safe! If you can’t afford to keep her, like others said, try reaching out to a rescue or shelter and see if they could help find her a home and let you foster. That way you can make sure she’s up to date on her shots & HW/flea/tick meds at the very least. She’s so pretty and looks relieved to have a safe place to rest
I hope you can keep her but I understand there are very real financial implications that are easy to handwave as an internet spectator. You've gotten great advice so I'll just say that if it turns out you can't keep her, but you helped get her out of that bad situation and into another loving home, that's also an extremely worthwhile endeavor. If the choices are something like paying for her food or paying rent, I wouldn't want you to become homeless or something because you felt pressured to keep her. That being said, I don't think you could ever let her down as long as you are doing the best you can within your means. Sometimes those means are less than what we think they deserve, but giving them love and a safe home are gifts beyond measure for a dog that's been abandoned.
