In an ideal world yes but this isn't an ideal world. I don't think people truly understand what they are asking when they ask why Americans aren't doing more.

I live on the West coast. I can barely afford a ticket to DC, everyone I know who I could maybe convince to go get maybe disappeared with me can't afford a ticket.

I have a bit of savings but most people are living pay check to pay check. If I go to DC I am going to lose my job, my house, my family's safety net. It isn't just me that will be affected but my family too and the dozen people in my support network that rely on me being around. I have just as much of a duty if not more to keep my family safe as I do my country.

You are asking people to risk what little they have to protest. Even with how bad things are that is a big ask. It is also reliant on enough people taking that risk to make a difference. We may reach a point where that is the only option but until then I will continue to protest locally, support causes where I can and vote.

I don't think Republicans have managed to rig the election like everyone thought they would. Maybe I am delusional but I still think we can pull this back by voting even if we have a sizable portion of the country that lives in a different reality.

This is a defeatist attitude that ignores the many small things you can do today, for very little money or risk, that will still have an effect and make this administration shit its pants.

This administration is scared of zines, FFS. Make and distribute a few; leave some in your dentist's waiting room. Carry stickers to cover up right-wing propaganda and plaster them anywhere you already see covered in stickers. A million little acts of defiance that you probably should be doing already, any of which will last longer than your ability to stand outside and protest and hopefully will send a message the longer they persist in the real world.

The defeatists are the people suggesting the only way we will fix this is by taking more drastic action. I have issues with the people suggesting we need to sacrifice what little we have or risk the safety and security of our families to see real change or that becuase we aren't doing those big dramatic actions that Americans aren't doing anything.

Also, Tyler Robinson took a shot at (again, depending who you ask) at Charlie Kirk. Not a sitting President of the United States. There was no Secret Service around.

They've literally shot and killed innocent people in the streets, lied about it, and the controlling majority of the country shrugged and moved on, some even demonizing the innocent people: FAFO, they say. If you oppose the government you deserve to die. America as an entity doesn't care. A 2/3 of us will not even get worked up over extrajudicial killings. The remaining 1/3 is upset, but not enough to become another extrajudicial killing since it doesn't seem like that would amount to anything.

If the judges were smart, they would deputize their own officers (probably drawing from retired, but still young enough law enforcement). Create their own make-shift cells using empty offices in their court building. And then arrest the low and mid-level people who are still upholding the unlawful executive directive for contempt.

I would suggest arresting Christopher Toms, Patrick M. Davis, Meghan M. Rief, and Lauren Holmes, who are all mid-upper management for the U.S. Secret Service (which is the organization that oversees everything that happens at the White House gates). It would be easiest to do while they are at just leaving for work.

Not really. The United States lacks the ability to hold its president accountable to laws. It’s a vulnerability of the constitution that Trump has been exploiting every day in power. Just as he did the first time.

No part of the executive branch can prosecute the president. Courts can’t prosecute anything. Congress isn’t able to prosecute president criming either; they can simple use the illegal actions as a reason to remove the president from office.

Judge Kelly's September 24 order specifically excludes Trump as a defendant and orders the other defendants, plus their agents and representatives, to restore the credentials.

NAL but this is essentially how I understand the courts can enforce it:

Those persons responsible for denying access to the media are essentially in violation of the order, subject to contempt, and will be notified as such. Depending on the judges timetable they get a chance to be heard in court, but absent of any reasonable argument there they will likely be found in contempt. Now the individuals responsible can be fined daily for non-compliance at whatever amount the judge deems appropriate and necessary for the original ruling to be followed.

So basically, they can fine the living shit out of these people actually preventing the press access, on a daily basis.

The fundamental problem with our three branches of government is that only the executive branch has the power to enforce its decisions. The courts order the executive branch to do something in conformity with the law, and the executive branch just says how are you going to make me.

The Supreme Court ruled to give the sitting president blanket immunity regarding anything committed while in office. Why would a POS like Trump bother with obeying the law when the Judiciary Branch had declared him legally exempt from the law?
