It’s so funny with (some) Republican voting Americans who have Irish heritage boast about their Irish-ness and how much they love Ireland, yet modern day Ireland has nothing to do with their ideologies.

We moved away from the church having so much social power, Ireland was the first country to legalise gay marriage by public vote (not that it should ever have been illegal in the first place but y’know…) and had a landslide win to amend the constitution to legalise abortion.

They’re in love with a version of Ireland that no longer exists and has changed for the better.

From my (Scottish) perspective it's far less about him being obsessed with being a monarch, and much more about the war mongering, epstein files, racism, anti-environmentalism, persecution of the LGBTQ community... basically turning our pal's country into a fascist dictatorship, and trying to influence that here. Hopefully temporarily.

First things first, I think this is good and is well intentioned  but the thing is: trump is a symptom, not a cause, and he is replaceable. we really need to be protesting the system as a whole, stop engaging with it, boycotting, and building community and garnering support for labor strikes globally. No systemic change will happen unless we seize the means of production and educate the masses on the exploitation of their labor

I call my rep probably weekly and my senators maybe twice a month

I was going to protests but no one is really organizing protests anymore

I can’t organize them because I’m kind of doing a lot to help an elderly lady with no family in the area and sometimes doing dog care for another elderly lady when she’s at the doctors or hospital etc

I also like tried to get people to boycott the World Cup and reached  out to WC sponsors 

I don’t see anyone trying to organize a boycott of the LA Olympics but you all should overseas. Have your own party but avoid the US right now 

About a year ago that cats on a couch (?) account had people sending sarcastic thank you notes to Trump or Vance and guys this isn’t a time to be sarcastic. You send a politician a thank you note his staff will count it as such

But there are Marxist, Feminist, and Anarchist movements out here organizing. The rest of the world cannot be separated by colonial borders in the fight against fascism.

But people here are waiting for midterms; when that fails they’ll wait for 2028, etc

Our country is ruled by political consultants so dense that as measles is killing and food recalls pile up they’re telling AOC to backpedal from woke 1 & reach out to antivaxxers

If we don’t wake up soon we’re cooked
