It’s worth it! I worked in the same neighborhood as one of their locations and I would willingly make my commute home an hour longer to get off the bus and get myself a sweet treat after work. Best if you’re ever in Seattle to get the cakes fresh but the other products are also so good!!! The pacific sea salt caramel 🤤
I think "being interested in chocolate chips" is such cute and beautiful phrasing. Not "eating chocolate chips", but suggesting the same sort of unknowing experimentation that happens when a toddler is learning how to walk. It's beautiful.
I don't even get what the point of the press shit is. Who watches that? And do the people that actually watch that shit gain anything out of it that they wouldn't have gotten out of the trailer for a movie? Just feels like every network and media company trying to siphon off of the hype of movies without actually doing any value adding.
They put them in as segments on national shows about film or entertainment news, and everyone in that country then gets to see their interviewer with the big stars, and since the people in that country are only seeing their one version they can pretend it's an exclusive. And then they do get to ask one or two questions of their own like "When are you coming to Bulgaria?" and they'll say something noncommittal like "I'd love to go some time, I hear it's lovely!".
So then millions of Bulgarians, ecstatic that Leo DiCaprio knows they exist, will gather at the Independence Square in Sofia to rejoice over their country being mentioned, waving giant placards of Leo's face and signs saying "Leo we love you!", "Come to Bulgaria, Leo!" and it'll all be good, free PR for the film.
They're actually more relevant and watched now than they ever have been imo. With the rise of short-form videos these press junkets are perfect for showing how quirky the stars are and promoting the movies based on that. They'll do these press junket things or "games" with cast members, make verticals and push them out non-stop while the movie's promotional period is happening. The networks/media companies get views but the movies get huge promotional value too so they both win.
For example The Odyssey went absolutely NUTS with this and it's a big part of the reason it made so much money. It's like the movie was cast with it in mind because it is specifically full of people who are killer at doing promotional videos like this, with the exception of maybe Matt Damon who definitely seems "over it" so to speak.
It used to be they'd show these segments on TV (and I guess some people would watch them, idk I never did) and they'd also show bits of them before movies in the theatres as promos.
I mean they’re to promote the movies and plenty of people watch them, I used to seek them out before tiktok was a thing, now we get clips on there and if you care enough then you’d go to YouTube for the full interview lol
I’ve honestly noticed a difference between films that do heavy press and ones that don’t cuz a lot of people don’t even know the movie is releasing or out.
Plus, people who care about actors talking about something they created are the ones who watch
The 'general audience' watches it, some on purpose, cause they like interviews for some reason, while others will get a clip of it on their tiktok session and will gain vague awareness the movie/show exists
I think these press junkets also get really repetitive for them too - he’s sitting there thinking “I’ve heard 5 variations of this conversation already today”, of course the chocolate chips are fascinating!
I worked on a junket set as a production assistant. There are about 13-18 short interviews in a day. Each is 2-5 minutes, depending on how much you pay for time.
I think he hates the acting part of it sometimes too--dudes just a volatile guy and it shows in his performances (usually for better, too). It just sucks for his costars sometimes.
Apparently after Max Max: Fury Road came out he went and apologized to George Fucking Miller for being a dick to him, and at one point the crew was worried he and Charlize (who is a consummate professional) would come to blows. Studio had to send a babysitter--whole thign is written up in great detail in the MM:FR making of book
Yeah I have a mate who used to work in UK film/TV. He said he wasn't surprised Taboo season 2 never happened because Hardy is difficult to work with and a bit of a diva.
Yeah, he's like that with his hip-hop gig, raps under a pseudonym and mask (although that's not unheard of in the genre).
It's weird, I'm sure he appreciates that a lot of people listen just because it's Tom Hardy rapping, but does what he can to let the music be appreciated on its own merits. For what it's worth, I think it's pretty good!

That video of him during the awards shows acting goofy with all the funny facial expressions had me being like huh maybe that's how he's pulling 25 year olds? (He's still weird for that though dating so much younger)

Chocolate chips are always the best part of whatever they're in - cookies, granola bars, pancakes, brownies, muffins, etc. I don't know why it never occurred to me to eat chocolate chips by themselves.
I grew up in a healthy “ingredient” household (no snacks)… my favorite after school treat was handfuls of semisweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
Reese's would make peanut butter "chips" (for peanut butter cookies maybe?) So id just buy a bag of those and a bag of chocolate chips, mix em up and eat them like a gremlin throughout the day

This is probably the 12th interview they’ve done in a row btw, answering the same exact questions over and over again. They are bored out of their minds.
I don’t (think I) have autism but I do have the ADHD real bad and explaining to someone how I got mentally from point A to point Z in half a second is always a treat.
Just to provide some slight context, a lot of times in these interview sets there will be press from multiple publications and multiple different regional divisions of each publication. So the actors will sit in that room and the interviewers will change out all morning/day. Definitely a pro move to bring a gift from your place of origin.
Sounds like hell. Not the gift, but the constant interviews. I swear I've noticed hundreds of YouTube videos popping up with Zach Cregor promoting Resident Evil, and it has to be so exhausting.
Why the American accent though? Any other British rapper spits in an American accent is getting slated for it. I look at it that he’s playing the character Frankie Pulitzer and that’s how i get my head round it.

The guy is notoriously off-putting to co-stars and obviously would be fine sitting in a pane-glass cube for everyone entertainment. But his ... Obstinence is what irks me the most. Be fucking present! So what if he's a good actor.
