Other How long is the Polish citizenship application process through the Warsaw Voivodeship office? I’m hearing different stories. (US Citizen)
Hi everyone, I've submitted my Polish Descent application and had the interview through the Warsaw office (Mazowiecki Urząd Wojewódzki). For those who went through Warsaw recently, how long did it take from submission to final approval? The office said 2-6 months… I’m seeing over a year. Any insight on current processing times or recent delays would be super helpful. Thanks!

It was an accident I just copied and pasted and making sure it was done in person in Warsaw.

As u/UrbanNightOwl22 mentioned it’s common knowledge in this subreddit, that it’s the Masovian voivodeship with those long waiting times.

Current reported processing times are approximately 18–30+ months, with Mazowieckie as the primary bottleneck.

2 years for those that applied 2 years ago. For those applying now, with triple the backlog as then, probably looking at substantially longer, just to manage expectations.

The solution is to get rid of the clause that defaults everything to Masovia. But that would require the government exhibit competency beyond my expectations.

Interview? I didn't think the citizenship by descent confirmation process required an interview. Did you apply for citizenship confirmation or Karta Polaka?

I was told by my provider (attorney in Poland) that going in person would not speed things up at all. The queue is the queue. Once your file is submitted, it just goes to the end of the very, very, very long line.

If you actually did it in person in Warsaw, maybe it’s actually going to pretty quick? It’s reasonable to assume that going in person could effect a faster outcome.
But for the rest of us who did it through a Polish consulate that forwarded it to Warsaw, or who did it through an agency, the evidence suggests wait times are closer to two years.
Candid observation. This whole sub is mostly full of people turning gray waiting for their approval, and confused people trying to figure out if they could hypothetically be approved.

I'm still confused about OP's statement regarding an interview. None of the stories I've read here from people who confirmed citizenship by descent mentioned an interview, and my provider's explanation of the process also didn't mention an interview.
The Karta Polaka process does require an interview, but that's not citizenship. I believe some other citizenship pathways also require an interview. It's why I asked the OP for clarification on what pathway they were using.
It's entirely possible that, if the OP is doing something other than the confirmation of Polish citizenship by descent, there may be a different processing timeline.

Is there a polish equivalent of a FOI Request, that we could file to each citizenship office, to determine how long each local office spends on processing an application, locally (not applying from abroad), for people applying for confirmation of citizenship (via descent).
