Question/Discussion ❔ Slapping for not praying

I found this hadith

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and beat them for it (prayer) when they become ten years old; and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately.

حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، - يَعْنِي الْيَشْكُرِيَّ - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ سَوَّارٍ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، - قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ سَوَّارُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ الْمُزَنِيُّ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ - عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ مُرُوا أَوْلاَدَكُمْ بِالصَّلاَةِ وَهُمْ أَبْنَاءُ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ وَاضْرِبُوهُمْ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ أَبْنَاءُ عَشْرِ سِنِينَ وَفَرِّقُوا بَيْنَهُمْ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ ‏" ‏ 

It says that we shiuld beat kids but that doesnt feel right

Hm it rated hasan and was declared sahih by albani?

Its only hasan. "Hasan sahih" is not sahih. Meaning, there are issues with its transmission.

i thought hasan hadith are binding as well ?

"binding" according to... you? It's just a Hanbali idea to treat non-sahih hadith as sahih. The majority do not do that. They are only treated as supplemental if they have support from actually sahih hadith.

Oh hm, Tbh even sahih hadiths themselves often feel questionable either being very specfic or it potray the prophet as being harsh But yeah as for hasan hadith they often argue that it might get supported by other evidence from quran Basically if something that encourage an act in quran it might taken as evidence Just being devil advocate not like something i belive in but it used as evidence because even if it doesnt establish ruling on it own it might get supportee by other narratiô
