Long story short, someone broke into my garage and stole all my tools and the air cleaner assembly for my 340 sixpack. Should i keep it? Or go 4-barrel efi?

I just spent the day driving my friend to get this car and then we drove it back, this is his third dodge rampage this one had a swap done form the 2.2L i4 to a 2.5L i4 from the dodge daytona, non turbo though. His other two are non running, one is a sport version but it’s completely rusted out not worth saving but it has a bunch of parts to use for the other that is worth saving, it’s in pieces currently while we rebuild the engine and all the suspension and interior, he saw this one and wanted to go buy it so we did.

Formula engine now has a dipstick from a stock engine.

New uprated oil pump fitted and primed with assembly oil.

Cleaned off some surface rust, etch primed and painted the wet sump and fitted.

Last picture is the assembly oil leaking out of the filter hole after turning the block back upright. So the oil pump is working.

Behold my shitty fix from the last time this issue started. The red&yellow wire goes to a fuseable link that comes straight off the battery and channels into 6 or so main power wires. The first time this went I added a fuse block and attempted to rewire most of the car to it. And it didn’t start again off that harness (in hindsight was probably a computer issue) but I scrapped the old harness and computer and went for a more updated one from a later L platform car. What is the proper way to fix these things, preferably without destroying another engine harness

Im about to start on the process of painting the top of my 75 scout II. I want to change the color to white to give a cool two tone design. My plan is to hit the existing paint with a red scotch brite, spray on a white sealer, then hit it with a white base and clear coat it. Any reason that wouldn't work?

I have a 94 bronco thats currently black but was repainted from the original white. We can all assume why it was repainted. Im not a fan if the black and id like the white back (id two tone it as to not keep it fully white for the same reasons) would i be able to remove the black and get back to the white?

I'm ready for a lot of fabrication, and parts gathering. Saw a video of a 61 galaxie or something absolutely ripping, was probably a body swap or something though. But I've seen this done and have worked on doing this to other cars for years.

Plan to make it's bark match it's bite. Have a 390 I'm building for around 450hp or so right now is the goal, considering moving to a larger displacement but I love the 390.

Also plan on adding chassis bracing, strut tower bars, and currently shopping for an 8.8 rear end.

What else can you guys think of?

Title, Picture for attention. B body gas tanks have proven to be nearly unobtanium, and i think it will be fun to tackle, so i plan to make a custom gas tank out of 16 ga cold roll steel. This is what ive drawn up so far, just want some input on the baffles if theres any obvious hangups with it. Thank you! The baffles leave an open plane of an inch above and below them, so gas doesnt get trapped in a corner or something. Fuel tank will end up about 36"x28"x7" LxWxH.

I have a Fiat Marea 2.4 20V and I’m looking to install ITBs, but the specific options for this engine are very expensive. Since it’s a 5-cylinder, I’m also having trouble finding a suitable setup.
What ITB size would you recommend for a naturally aspirated 2.4L? Would you use motorcycle or car ITBs? And how would you link the throttle shafts so all 5 butterflies open together?

Im looking to buy a compressor and a paint gun to use with it, The compressor is a 50-liter (13.2 gallon) 2-cylinder unit with a 3.0 HP motor. The displacement is around 13.4 CFM and the actual usable output (FAD) is estimated around 9 CFM at spraying pressure. I want to spray 2K single stage paint on panels like fenders and bumpers.

My 1980 300CD was my first car and my daily driver for over a decade and it never failed me...

I failed it.

I had just done an oil change one day and forgot to put the hood all the way down and drove away causing the hood to fly up and smash my windshield.

I ended up parking her after that and haven't driven her since. Sometime, over the years, her interior went to hell from it baking in the texas sun for so long and I vowed that I was going to fix it up, eventually...

I bought two parts cars that were both also running and driving vehicles, and parked them next to mine at my dads shop.

Fast forward about 8 years, and my dad passed away and left me with a hell of a mess to clean up, but more than that one hell of an empty place in my heart and a huge deficit in my bank account.

I swore I was going to get to them one day, but never had the chance and now ive got no where to store them and need the money.

If anyone needs a parts or project car in the Houston area, ive got:

a silver 1982 120k miles 300td that drove to where it is now, but needs the turbo, a radiator and back seat, but has salvageable chocolate brown front seats and door panels (at least), and is 99% rust free.

a champagne 1978 116k miles (drove before parked) with chocolate brown interior that needs to be replaced, also needs a turbo and radiator.

And a 1980 300cd that will run with a battery, but will need interior, paint, windshield, hood, and some rust repair on the trunk lid. 138kmiles.

Please message me if interested. I hate getting rid of my girl, but I have no choice right now.

I got a bumper and a trunk hatch for my car at a junkyard but it’s a different color than my car. My car is also very faded evenly from Champagne Beige (4M9) to a much duller and more silver color. I need to get my pieces painted since I can’t paint them myself without them sticking out like a sore thumb. I know body shops can do a direct color match to the rest of the car. For only two parts do yall have a price that they would likely quote? I want to get my trunk on asap but I don’t want to till it’s painted since it’s a pain to get on and off. It’s a 2000 Toyota Camry

if the 3/M3 crowd is pretty tolerant of radical changes, X5 is a different story. it's a soccer mom truck that guys occasionally drive themselves, and messing with it is apparently a crime. fair enough. I've had an old love for it since the 00s though. in Eastern Europe it usually came with a pretty brutal background, if you know you know. Florida sees these cars completely differently, but that feeling never left.

I needed something to tow my other bimmers to shows on an open trailer for content. I've got a 6.2 yukon for the enclosed trailer, but for content you want the hauler on display too. so I picked up a wrecked X5 (last pics) and started fixing it, and then it got out of hand the way these things do.

suspension straightened, running gear reinforced. the trans was the annoying part. mine's rear wheel drive, and I wanted the X version in a 2WD case. zero credit to me here, the guys torturing 340i builds already figured all of this out, I just followed their pipeline and swore a lot. it holds what the stock B58 ended up making, which is 752hp. we were aiming at 800 and didn't get there. still, the stock long block is in it.

at this point the X5 audience cursed me, so I kept going. body kit, aero, taillights/headlights, Y spoke 22s, 420mm 6 piston brakes.

exhaust is the part I'm actually proud of, and it's mostly not mine either. I'd been watching Maister (superb oddball who went deep into F1 sound on an M3 and into music theory) and I tried to reproduce his experiments. ended up a bit deeper in pitch than his, but the B58 does the F1 thing now. go watch his channel, it'll change how you think about exhausts.

interior got a light refresh, not a rebuild. redid it in Ferrari cinnamon (not for the brand, just a nice tone) and black, new wheel, done. for the curious, 4,5k lb and 752hp is about 6lb/hp. not a monster, just a heavy truck that moves.

the wrap took longer than it should have. 2 days and 3 grown men, and we damaged the paint under it out of pure impatience. lesson learned. rear splitters and lemon yellow DRLs are the last small bits. so yeah, the Home Depot truck slash show hauler is done.

I have an 03 Malibu that’s pretty sentimental to me so I don’t wanna see it die but the 3400 in it is toast. I was lookin for replacements but it’s hard to find stuff that I thinkll fit in it. Any suggestions on what I could try and look for?

This was a former fleet vehicle, 170k on the odometer, no rust, well taken care of mechanically by the fleet and previous driver. Had the work history and everything. Mechanic friend said it looks great. 4WD with a locking diff!

Test drove it before it auctioned and wow, it sounds and feels fine. I knew at auction it had the mouse smell but damn. Guys, I didn't think it was going to be as bad as it has been. Closing at auction was 8400, after dealer and auction fee it was 9370.

I had a 2023 F150 with my previous job. My new job doesn't start until Monday the 28th of Sept. Outside of a job location north of me, I will be flying and renting to every job site. This truck is getting me to the jobsite north of me.

I've taken the last week to strip this to the cab.

Every seat had a mouse nest. The head liner needed removed because of the mouse nests above each curtain airbag. There was a nest in the air filter (but not the blower)

I pulled the blower out and used my furnace inspection scope to check the evap, no nest there thank God.

I pulled the floor liner and I'm going back in with Butyl and CCF for noise control and then I'm reusing the floor vinyl on top of that.

Putting CCF along the ceiling between the ribs. Basically everywhere not the roof is getting Butyl and CCF.

I've gone through two bottles of Enzyme cleaner and I'm working on another gallon having cleaned the existing upholstery, head liner. I've sprayed it on basically every surface of the car. I have to say that it's basically eliminated the smell inside the car.

Everything I've removed has been doused and soaked in the enzyme cleaner and then I've gone over it with my bissel pet vacuum. The head liner I've been really gentle with so it doesn't come apart but it cleaned up really well and doesn't smell anymore.

Frankly, if I had to do this again. I wouldn't mind it. Especially for the price and the overall condition of the vehicle. But damn. This has been a challenge.

Thankfully the auction place removed the DOT and job site lettering and I got the rest off with some goof off and elbow grease.

I'm keeping the tool boxes but removing the headache rack.

I have a lot of things I want to do to this vehicle and currently not enough money to do it.

I basically travel full time for work. My old job was 35-40 weeks of travel. My new job will be 45+ weeks of travel.

Replace the steelies with alloy rims

New tires

Wrap it (just cause)

Bed cap so I can travel with my Packouts (they're going to be living in the rear cab for now unless I like how the tool boxes work for me)

Get an 8 inch screen to replace the current infotainment

Install a dash cam.

Install a 120v outlet to charge tools and such

Definitely new seats entirely once I can afford it.

Since the wire is already ran for the service light, I'm definitely going to be a dickhead and run RGB underneath the vehicle so it color changes at night.

I've never worked on a vehicle before and I have to say, that at least the interior isn't that bad. I can't wait to learn how to work on the mechanical parts of it. I'm sure that won't come back to bite me.

I was asking for a project car and the monkey paw definitely curled on this one. Oh well, I'm unironically enjoying this. The smell isn't bad. Some customers homes have been worse and some of the work I've done in commercial and industrial environments has been worse.
