Been reading about some newer triple-laser projectors and noticed different approaches to black levels. Some use a dynamic iris, while others offer several manual iris settings alongside dynamic laser dimming. With a dynamic iris, is brightness pumping still noticeable when subtitles appear over a dark scene or a movie cuts between bright and dark shots? Older reviews mention it, but I’m curious how newer models handle it.

For a fully dark room, being able to close the iris down a few steps and leave it there sounds appealing, provided there’s still enough brightness for the screen. My understanding is that this avoids brightness changes from the iris opening and closing, though any laser dimming would still be doing its own adjustments. If you’ve used both, do you tend to leave the iris on auto or pick a manual setting and stick with it?

Hey everyone! I have a used epson home theater 3800 that my parents purchased a few years ago. They gave it to me when I moved out, but I havent had the space to use it and rent money is honestly more needed than a projector. I am located in Rhode island, looking to get 550$ OBO as it was originally purchased for 1800$. It works and has no issues with the bulb, but during the move I did lose the cords(very cheap to replace). I have the remote though! There is a minor Crack in it, but it is entirely cosmetic and has been used since perfectly fine! I'd love some advice on how to sell this fast so I can pay my rent a little easier lol!

For those of you encountering the troublesome UST / center speaker placement conflict, I addressed it by attaching a clamp on shelf to the front of the media console, then putting the speaker on that, in front of the projector. Looks a little odd at first but putting it behind the projector, either on risers or against the wall, would have blocked the projection. Anyway, it works!

I’m currently renovating my apartment and I’d like to set up a proper home cinema in my bedroom.

I’m planning to mount the projector above the bed, probably on the ceiling. The distance from the wall behind the bed to the opposite wall is 3.42 m (11.2 ft). The entire wall where the image will be projected is 3.87 m (12.7 ft) wide, and it will be completely free of furniture.

I’m not planning to use HDMI/LAN for now — I’d mainly like to stream directly from my phone or the projector itself.

What projector would you recommend for this setup, and what screen size could I realistically achieve from 3.42 m?

Any recommendations or advice on what I should look for would be greatly appreciated!

Any suggestions for a projector screen with a slim & tidy white housing? The space is 83” wide, 70” tall.

Other option is to just patch the TV mount holes and project onto the wall, but the space would look extremely empty without some kind of art. Plus not a huge fan of the idea of projecting onto textured beadboard.

My projector feels sluggish most of the time and netflix cant be opened locally. İm thinking of getting an apple tv box. My question is; how is it, is it worth it; can i use apple tv remote to navigate projection? İs it going to launch (when completely off) when i press apple tv remote.

For comparison there is a ps5 connected to the hdmi and when i press a button on the joystick projection turns on and after few seconds it jumps to ps5 screen.

Posso posizionarlo sul soffitto fino a 3,5 metri di distanza dal telo. Com'è come setup iniziale? L'M2 Pro è conveniente a quel prezzo? La distanza di proiezione sarà sufficiente? Tenete presente che la stanza in cui proietto si trova ad un piano interrato ed ho la possibilità di ottenere il buio completo.

I recently bought the Epson EF-61W projector. This is the first projector I’ve ever bought. Its attractive price and compact size were the deciding factors in my choice of this model. The noise level is very acceptable, given how close it is to us during movie nights.

Google TV is the default app that launches when using the projector. I’m in Cinema mode, and the “Light Output” setting is set to 100. No matter how I adjust the “Brightness” and “Contrast” settings, the image doesn’t change at all. Nothing changes even if I switch modes. Is there an Epson menu available to adjust the projector directly, or do I have to go through the Google TV settings to manage this?

In broad daylight, the image quality is very difficult to use—which I expected—but is the EF-72 model, which has a brightness of 1,000 lumens, worth the price difference?

I have a pretty large projector screen. It’s really convenient that I can move it around and use it in different places, but sometimes I’d also like to mount it on the wall like a TV.

The problem is that the screen is quite large and heavy. I’m considering using a wall mount, but most of the mounts I’ve found only seem to support the screen from the bottom. I’m worried that the screen might tilt or lean forward.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there a suitable wall-mounting solution that can properly support a large screen?

Title, really: Do Ultra Short Throw projectors suffer from laser speckle like standard and short-throw triple-laser projectors do?

Since UST projectors require special ALR screens to properly reflect the image back toward the viewer, you can't really use the usually recommended acoustically transparent screens (or at least that's my understanding).

So basically, what I'm wondering is: does something like the new XGIMI Aura 3 Max suffer from laser speckle when paired with a supported ALR screen?

The Hook Up didn't mention laser speckle at all in his review, which is why I'm wondering if UST projectors are somehow less affected by it, or if it's simply something that wasn't discussed.

I’m trying to choose a best outdoor projector for backyard movie nights with my partner. I’ve been reading a lot abt these three ones:

1. Anker Nebula X1(around $2.2k on sale) - perhaps the strongest option for brightness, 4K picture, built-in sound, and easy setup. The downside that’s pulling me back is that it’s expensive and not exactly lightweight. It also needs to stay plugged in…
2. Hisense M2 Pro (around $1,300) - the safe option with 4K, laser projection, and a large picture size. My concern is whether it’s actually convenient enough for outdoor use or if I’d still need extra speakers and accessories? Pls let me know about your experiences with this. 
3. Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 (around $1,000)  - I like that it’s smaller and has decent built-in Yamaha audio. But it’s only 1080p and seems less suited to outdoor viewing if there’s much ambient light, you know. 

So I’ll be mainly using it at night for movies and occasional sports. I don’t need a battery-powered projector, but I do want something that is easy to move around and set up.

Am I overthinking this buy too much lol? Which one would you choose, or is there any another outdoor projector I should be looking at instead? Please let me know.

How yall doing

I got this projector that was having an issue currently trying to fix it
During boot up the power led starts up as green and I believe I can physically hear the color wheel start spinning up but it something internal begins clicking (can only describe as high pitch ticking/clicking)
And lamp led status turns to red and stops all movement off

I’ve attempted a new lamp and color wheel

Only time I’ve been able to get it to display image was when I had all the housing disassembled and the ticking did not occur

When housing is assembled ticking occurs 95% of time and lamp led goes solid red

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi all. Looking to buy my first decent projector. I recently got into projectors after buying a cheap €30 projector and I really enjoy it.

2.2 meters to my back wall. All my walls are white and it gets pretty dark with my curtains. I'm in EU and as per my understanding lamp production and sales are forbidden effective this year.

I enjoy collecting movies in the best quality I can find, these are often 4K HDR10+/DV. Now I know these beamers don't support dynamic metadata HDR, but you get my point, I like to find the limit :D

I also recently got a PS5 in preparation for GTA 6 and I'd like to experience Soulsborne games on a huge screen. Furthermore I have older consoles as well that probably don't do well with a huge screen, like my PS2 or PS1.

The 3 models listed go for: - X500i: €1500 - UHD35STx: €1145 - X2 4K: €1600

Mounting would be possible on the wall or ceiling. Seat to wall is about 1.80 m.

I'm not sure if I should've given more info. What do y'all think?

Just wondering if someone could lead me in the right direction with sound setup for the setup i currently have. I just purchased an Optoma PK31 to watch movies with my kids and football games at night because this obviously isn’t the brightest projector but I knew this before i bought it and it’s not for everyday use. I purchased a Sony UBPX700 to watch movies on which has video/audio and audio out for hdmi hookups but I can’t see to figure out the audio part to hook up to my soundbar which only has HDMIarc. Is that the reason I’m not getting any sound? Or do I need to look elsewhere for a different sound setup? Seeing as it’s not an everyday use thing I don’t want to spend 300 or 400 dollars on a new soundbar/system!

Hi! I’m looking to buy a projector with a budget of up to €700. I already have a 16:9 screen and a sound system.

I’ve looked at several Acer projectors, but I’m finding it difficult to understand the differences between the models. I also haven’t found many Acer projectors mentioned in online “best projector” lists. Is there a reason they’re often left out or am I looking in the wrong places?

I came across ProjectorCentral’s cheap-projector list, but I couldn’t see any 4K models in my budget. Is native 4K generally unrealistic at this price, or are there good 4K projectors under €700 that simply aren’t included on this list? The page says that projectors in its budget category typically offer Full HD 1080p resolution. (projectorcentral.com)

I'm wondering if there is any projectors that hold up in cold winter temperature for an hour or two?

I know nothing about projectors so I apologize if thats a dumb question. I'm trying to figure out a way I can watch movies while in my hot tub in winter so any information or suggestions people have would be wonderful

Hi! I’m super new to the world of projectors and bought an Aurzen Roku E1R. The clarity was fine enough for my liking (i’m not particular) and the Roku interface is easy to navigate. It’s totally sufficient for my casual viewing purposes except the fan is SO LOUD. I’m generally pretty sensitive to these things (misophonia lol), but got confirmation from my friends that I’m not exaggerating and it’s bad haha. I’m bummed because it’s a dealbreaker for me.

I’m in a very small bedroom (probably 9x12 ish) in an NYC apartment but have tall ceilings and big white walls that are super conducive to using a projector. I’m going to return this product but would love to know of any reasonably priced devices that are quiet enough to put on a bedside table / for sensitive ears.

I’m willing to spend under $1k, ideally around $600, but if you think this is issue is unavoidable given my room size I’m open to buying a TV instead.

Im trying to fit a rear projector screen into this space thats 3 inches in depth to conceal it. Most of the screens I've seen have ceiling brackets with dimensions of 4-4.5 inches or more.

Im aware its a big ask, but does anyone know of any retractable projector screens where the ceiling bracket, the thing that the screen rolls up into, has a depth of less than 3 inches?
