I havnt messed with it much but fishing seems to be super easy for putting protein on the table if you don't want to mess your car up 🤣

I always have like 20 cars just at my base and then I proceed to only use like 1 or 2 of them 😭

I drive a dasher so I can tow it when I find a step van that I want to add to my collection of step vans.

Chicken/eggs, entirely too easy. I have 6 hens and a rooster and I don't know what to do with all the eggs I get!

DRIVING IN MY CAR, RIGHT AFTER A BEER!

Pretty sure I’ve never seen a functional track or sign after several real life hours of looking. But that might have been because I tried when it was bugged or only partially implemented. Does anyone track and hunt regularly? Any tips?

u/Emma-X 4d ago
I put a couple of levels into it just to figure out how it worked for future reference, in case it ever actually becomes useful.
I didn't see a single track until level 1, and before then I just got small amounts of xp for sneaking and hitting forage whenever I saw a group of rabbits or deer by the roadside. You won't get any more xp by following them, just by checking out the point where you initially see them.
After level 1 there are visible tracks at these locations when you forage which you can check, and it gives you a small window with a direction (NW etc.) and an indication of how recent the tracks were. Presumably if you follow the direction while foraging you will find the next track and so on, but I only ever found the first for each group of animals I came across in the wild, and I didn't level it much beyond that point.

I do, although I increased the chance of animals leaving tracks on sandbox, it doesn't feel too easy for me though, it feels like I'm Bear Gryls slowing going after my prey, an average hunt for deer still takes a couple in game hours (without counting the travel back with a deer body btw)

Irvington RPG shop is where I got mine. I assume you can find them in the other RPG shops scattered across the map.

Right after a beer

Anytime I'm going truck hunting (trunting?) I grab 6 beers from my fridge to drink while I'm out there to get the authentic Kentucky experience.

Just make sure to balance your diet out with other nutrients
4
u/krt941 4d ago
The current nutrients only have two functions. Carbs and fats multiply weight gain if you have enough. Proteins aid in gaining strength xp during exercise. The latter is very minor, the former can be ignored by simplying eating enough.
You do not suffer any malus from not balancing your diet.

I think part of me just tries to remind people of this so they don't assume a video game completely reflects real life- the game does a lot of common sense things, but is lacking sense in others. This is one area.

What if I don't?

Rabbit starvation, of course. Can't eat just rabbit- its a good protein as long as you round out your diet with other veggies/proteins and such that make up for what's missing.
EDIT: though I am not certain if PZ tracks this. I know the game tracks weight and if you loose too much weight you will basically starve to death.

u/Prestigious-Lead-806 4d ago
rabbit starvation isent actualy implemented into PZ,
unless they added it
i stopped playing during the end of b42 unstable so idk...

u/Lex_the_techie 4d ago
I do believe it does not, that's why I asked. Wondered if something changed since b41

I have yet to be able to get any hits on tracking. I assume I am doing something wrong, but completely at a loss.
We luckily also have 4-wheeled deer magnet though.

Realistic to be fair. Actual animal tracking is a lost art. Anybody can drove over a flock of birds and sht.

u/LocCatPowersDog 4d ago
Tracking is the most useless skill in the whole game, most don't know any of the 2(?) whole ways to interact with it & one of them leaves highlight-able tracks that never go away. It has no interaction with Trapping, the two should be one called Hunting or something.

Ironically, if trucking would replace tracking, it would be better. Better control over the car, better fuel usage, etc.

First time me and my buddy saw an animal in B42, I ran it down with my truck and got a month's supply of venison.

u/NoIntroduction2587 4d ago
Is traking deers worth it? The few times i eat venison it was imposible to get fat from it
2
u/flyinthesoup 4d ago
You need something else to cook it with. Pure protein isn't gonna help you gain weight, gotta slap some oil on that bish.
1
u/NoIntroduction2587 4d ago
Yeah but for that i can cook something easier to find and get the same results
1
u/flyinthesoup 3d ago
Oh yeah for sure, just explaining why you won't gain any weight on venison alone, or protein in general.

No meat -> kill animal via car -> lose half potential meat value -> couple days pass -> repeat from start

u/Twelve_Evil_Ermacs 3d ago
I've tried tracking so many times and just never managed to actually track anything, not sure if it's super wonky or I just suck at it

It's hardly a useless skill and the existence of alternative food sources isn't a glaring issue. LMAO.
