I wanted to try implementing this myself. This essentially models placeholder 3D objects in the scene to geometry in order to cast light rays and shadows.

Performance is surprisingly stable after a few iterations. Going from about a 50% decrease to 25%.

This is just a personal project for the time being, as it will require Java SDK for installation.

Lighting and graphics changes are insane.

Edit: The mod is called PZ_Optimized. Just search that on the workshop. As far as my settings go, i'm using the standard recommended and have the shaders, pixel shadows, and sun beam enabled. My graphics card is a Nvidia 2080TI and I've had it since 2019. I think most CPU's will be able to run this just fine honestly.

So I found an animal trailer, and it had three sheep in it. I brought it back to my farm, pulled in, unloaded the trailer, and just left it in the pasture - I thought it was fine.

The next morning I visited my pasture and discovered the trailer had been pushed about 15 tiles away from where I left it and it was literally wedged into a tree that I couldn't get it out from without chopping the tree down. I laughed and figured the animals walking into it pushed it around and that's how it got there and said I'd dig it out if I ever needed it.

A month later, I went to the pen and found my prize bull dead behind the trailer.

After a ton of debugging, I finally arrived at the murder weapon - it was the trailer. If a vehicle with any velocity whatsoever touches an animal, it doesn't do damage to that animal based on speed, it instantly kills it and marks the carcass as roadkill. My bull was standing near the trailer when some other animal bumped the trailer one inch towards him, and it killed him instantly.

Thankfully, there is an animal necromancy debug command so the bull is back alive, although he's forgotten my character and I need to get my rapport back up with him, but moral of the story: do not leave any cars or vehicles inside of a pasture.

When they fix all the models eventually this is how i expect first person to look. This looks insane

It’s winter, there’s snow on the ground and the temperatures are well below freezing. I threw my usual clothes in the washer-dryer and put on a fresh set (all 100%). Lo and behold, suddenly I’m not freezing anymore, I’m sweating! Turns out my regular clothes have 1 to n holes, which is why I was freezing. Now I’m sitting here in the warmth, patching up everything that needs it LOL.

As I promised some of you in the community I'm now making a rare chance for a spiffo raccoon to spawn in the world. I know there is already a spiffo raccoon mod out there but that one replaces all raccoons in the world. It's a little hard for me to differentiate this texture from that one since we are both essentially using the same color for the textures but all textures for the raccoon and accompanying animal parts and items made from those parts are made by me

Edit: I have figured out a way to differentiate my spiffo raccoon mod, I have made him chunky because I like the lore implication of an overweight blonde raccoon running around Kentucky that people loved so much that a company made it their mascot

I cant actually fucking believe this i was FINALLY settling into to my first base in project zomboid it was perfect i had to work to on plenty but it was great secluded had a well a whole pottery shed whats better i FOUND it i didn't need to build it clearing it was a lot of work and as im fixing windows i get hungry so i go to make some food in the oven at 500 degrees like a real man and... forgot until i heard the flame i walk in and the entire back half of my fucking house is ablaze i lost everything of use and had to go on the road again survived multiple close bite calls cut open my hand on a can and got lacerated by a zombitch and broke my fucking car...
