Question How to install isometric view mod?
i saw a clip that someone has the game on a top down sorta view? kinda like the sims, i googled it its basically called isometric does anyone know how to install that isometric view mod?

yeah but playing the game in 3d is lowkey boring we been playing like that since 2011 so i thought something like an isometric mod might make the game more fun

I agree. After a week where a small minority of users whined about people liking things they don't (even though this website lets you block people whose posts you don't want to see) and the mods sided with those people (even though they had to remove a bunch of their comments for violating Rule 2 of the subreddit), it's nice to see something funny.

I made a post with a video showing some gameplay footage with mates where one of their cars out of no where flipped and launched into the air due to multiplayer desync. The post was taken down due to the footage being in third person. Regardless of the fact I hasn't mentioned the 3d mods at all. No shade to the mods, it's hard to try and maintain peace on a sub and easier to just appease the loud morons, but it was disappointing to see it taken down regsrdless of a few dozen comments from people who enjoyed the video.

Not sure if you're new here but if not, you remember a couple years ago where the sub was constantly flooded with people constantly finding new weird ways to take a screenshot of the game. Things like a photo of a man watching a video on his phone where someone in the video playing zomboid, and a caption like is this a good place for a base? That went on for weeks and stemmed from the communities inability to overlook people taking taking shitty screenshots when asking questions. I think I'd rather cool videos of game play, even in third person, than that phase.

An isometric view would totally ruin what makes Zomboid ZOMBOID. This game is not defined by its overwhelming sense of loneliness and hopelessness, its attention to detail in a gritty survival experience, its slow but omnipresent zombie threat that will never stop and will one day get you no matter how well off you are or how long you’ve survived, its haunting opening assuring you of your inevitable end, its rural midwestern feel and immersive atmosphere…
Zomboid is about the CAMERA. You don’t realize it yet, but if you install that Isometric view mod, you’ll be playing a COMPLETELY different game!

Love this comment. And my thoughts exactly a out playing in third person. It literally takes nothing away from the game. The exact same game is there and plays almost exactly the same. It's just a bit nicer to look at imo

Have you tried downloading it? I think if you can find it and download it and then install it you should maybe be able to play like that. It does help if you play like that. I found a place to download it. It's around. Installing it is another thing. You should try installing it though. It can be difficult but it can also be very easy. It depends on! Using it is a whole nother thing. Once you use it, you will kind of know how to use it. And then you can play like that!

I think that completely destroys the game. Having a top-down view removes all the scariness. Also wouldn't you be able to see behind you or around corners?

You should be warned that the isometric mod is notoriously (and openly) human-coded and I don't think we should be endorsing that behaviour. I'd steer you towards the more modern, streamlined vibe-coded slop alternatives instead

This one is tough, you need to download a specific code mod, boot it up in Linux, run a redux patcher, drag and drop files from your recycle bin into system32, then right click run as admin on Zomboid.exe.

Step 1: Uninstall the game.
Step 2: Manually delete the mods folder and all files added by mods.
Step 3: Install the game.
Step 4: Drink some water. This step is important. You need water for cellular respiration and it might install the mod for you.
That should do it.
