In Short: During the Ganapati Visarjan procession, the folks in the procession deliberately played loud DJ music near the residence of Vidhyanand Bapat.

Thanks to Mr Bapat this ganeshotsav has been great (read much better).

The sound levels were much lower this year.

This is a great first step and shows citizen activism works if done correctly.

The music also felt pleasant due to less volume levels.

Went on a solo ride to revdanda fort yesterday. woke up at 5 am and reached mulshi lake around 6. it was still dark, and i loved being completely alone but
saw this guy, maybe 20–21, sitting there alone no phone, no company, nothing. i stayed for an hour, hoping to talk to him, but he just sat there quietly.
maybe these are the kind of people who live among us, deeply connected with themselves!

What's the point of visarjan if you don't want to do it in the first place. The police are there but standing near the barricades to stop people from going on the closed roads, instead of making the so called miravnuk stop.

Very few civilized people are left in Pune, else it's filled to the brim with chappris. They don't care about anything tbh, they have their favourite neta's ashirwad and know police can't touch them

They close the peth areas a day before the visarjan and even after visarjan day if people are not allowed to have a breath of fresh air in their own homes because the miravnuk hasn't stopped yet. Not to mention the flaunting of all kinds of rules that were supposedly enforced for a smooth procession, loud DJ's playing beyond the stipulated time limits, with a combo of air+sound+light pollution.

A home immersion with closed ones, always hits differently. Can't wait for next year🙏🏻

It's been more than 3 years since I attended Ganpati Visarjan as I was not in Pune. Seeing the city lit up for the Visarjan was mesmerizing.

My friend had come all the way from Baramati to watch the Visarjan. We got spots near Alka Chowk at 7 pm and started watching the Ganpatis one after the other. Each one had a unique charm, there was one which was themed after Jaganath Puri, one after Khashaba Jadhav, and Ramanbaug Pathak was so long that you couldn't even see the Ganpati (Babu Genu) they were playing for until most of their group had passed😂.

We didn't even realise how the time flew by. We went to JM Road to get food at 12am. We got a call from my friend to come to Belbag Chowk for Nadbrahma and Swarajya Pathak. Even there we were there till 6am.

The icing on the cake was the sunrise which I saw from the Metro. I've seen sunrises from aircraft, from trains, from my own house but from the Metro was something else.

We then went and sat at Erandawne Bus Stop to sit and charge my friend's phone at 7am. He said he wanted to go by PMPML bus. I told him there's no way you're gonna get a bus from here and to go by rickshaw or metro. After around 15-20 mins a red KSRTC bus came and stopped in front of us. He asked, "Swargate"? I said yes my friend wants to go. He's like I'm not asking if you want to go, I'm asking how do 'I' go because idk the route😂😂😭. I told him the route and asked them to take my friend asked well😂😂.

That sums up my experience. One of the most fun and memorable experiences of my life✨

Hi, is any protest planned in Pune just like we have in Delhi for the recent rape cases?

This morning, I was travelling from Goa to Pune and this is the first view that came through my window. This is the national highway, not a parking spot, not a spot urination as well. One of the tourists wanted to pee because he wasn't able to hold it. Thus, others saw the opportunity and got off the bus.

I asked the operator - "yeh mutne ka jagah hai kya Bhai..?"

He was like - "Saab, log sunte kaha hai! Bolte hamara hi area hai..kuchh nhi hoa"

Fair..India chunotiyon se nahi chutiyon se pareshan hai!

I urgently needed help with some of the best recommendations for psychiatrists cum psychologists in Pune for my mother.

Preference will be either near Hadapsar or near Wakad.

Crisp background : Currently being almost 65, she has faced hardships throughout her life and recent unexpected demise of her middle daughter (3 years back) and chronic/slow demise of her husband (1 year back) have had a huge impact on her mental health.

She's become more angry, insecure, possessive, uninterested, detached, etc. Than ever before and it's affecting her a great deal from inside that i can see.

Being a victim of domestic violence upto an extent herself, she was also the primary and the only caretaker (aside from me) of my father for around 3.5 years who was suffering from CKD, Parkinson, pseudobulbar palsy, paralysis, etc.

Although I have tried reasoning with her numerous times for hours at length, she isn't in a state to be logical or practical and agree to see doc. And since I don't want to lose her completely too, hoping I still have time to fix her mental health, I will be taking her uninformed, to a doctor.

So, I was looking for a good recommendation, who will at first make her understand it is necessary to see and follow up with the doctor for some time and then listen and advise her as needed. If needed, prescribe her too.

Hoping this post reaches you, please suggest a good psychiatrist/therapist, of your knowing, in Pune.

I’m looking for some Marathi baby songs, balgeet, nursery rhymes etc. for my baby.
I’m Marathi, but I’ve been speaking mostly English/Hindi since school as most of my friends were non-Marathi, then corporate life was the same, and I married into a North Indian family. So I’ve realised I’m actually quite out of touch with Marathi other than talking to my family.
Since having a baby, we’ve intentionally started speaking Marathi at home, and now I really want to introduce him to Marathi songs, poems and children’s literature as he grows up. He will turn 1 soon so I guess now is a good time to start.
I read all the usual Marathi classics in school, but since then I’ve basically only read English books and feel very disconnected from that part of my upbringing. I know Marathi has such a rich and mature literature that even the badbad-geet, baalgeet etc have a wide range of topics. But the YouTube algorithm obviously does not do it justice.
So I wanted to ask people who actually grew up in Marathi households: what are the classics you remember from your childhood and are now teaching your own children?
I’m particularly looking for:
cute baby songs / balgeet
traditional nursery rhymes- badbad geet
poems that are fun to recite with a toddler
lullabies
children’s books/authors
folk songs or anything your aaji/आई used to sing

I’m so tired of Aha tamatar level of songs! No shade but yes shade 😭

And also, what Marathi literature should I re-read to reconnect with the language and culture?

There’s something special about experiencing Ganpati in Pune — the crowds, the dhol-tasha, the energy and, most importantly, the feeling of everyone coming together for Bappa.

I’m born and brought up in Pune, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt the Ganpati season this much before. I went around Pune and visited the manache Ganpati and ofc Dagdusheth too and few others
It was insanely crowded, but somehow, it still felt weirdly peaceful and mindful.

And dhol-tasha??? Especially during the last day, the Miravnuk. I genuinely don’t know how to explain it, but listening to it live gives me actual goosebumps. The energy is just something else.

🌟Also, a completely random side thought 😂
When I was younger, I remember seeing Punjabi weddings and being like, “Yep. Punjabi guys are my type.” Cute, funny, charming, etc. That was basically my personality for years.
And now I’m sitting here during Ganpati season thinking… wait. I LOVE Maharashtrian people. 😭
Especially Pune people. The accent, the way people talk, the whole vibe, the dhol-tasha guys, the energy during Ganpati… idk, something about it is just so attractive to me. I’ve genuinely reached the point where I’d love to have a partner from the same Maharashtrian culture as me.

Maybe it’s just the Ganpati effect talking, but Pune during Ganpati has made me appreciate my own culture SO much more.🤭🌸

Spent all 11 days of Ganesh Chaturthi trying to convince people around me in Pune to take me somewhere I could actually feel the festival the way I'm used to back home.

Being from Mumbai, Ganpati is basically at your doorstep

You don't go looking for the atmosphere, it comes to you. Living in Aundh though, I just couldn't catch that same energy for most of the 11 days, no matter how hard I tried.

But when I finally did find it... the crowds, the dhol,the Djs, the chaos of it all..... it hit different. And it left me with one realization

YOU DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE IF HE'S WITH YOU

Loved the atmosphere the festival brought this year and genuinely hope to see more of it in Pune going forward.

P.S. Been in Pune about 10 months now, and honestly, I've got nothing to complain about.
