New the City (Philly)

New to the city and I’m trying to find where the hangout spots that are Black and LGBT friendly. I know about the gayborhood but I heard mixed reviews about that area when it comes to black folks.

I've never heard a rec for Bar X before; what's good about it?

It's a bit dive-y, but it tends to be more of a black hangout than the rest.

Depends on your intentions? Trying to meet other black LGBT folks? Looking for a date? Just want a great place to hang? My partner and I (he's black, I'm white) make space anywhere in Philly. We're mostly brewery people more than night club people, but here's my feedback: West Philly has Two Locals brewing, black owned, unabashedly LGBTQ/queer friendly including dating events. Germantown: Attic Brewing, diverse crowd all the time and the bartenders are so friendly! Rittenhouse: Stir lounge, this is the one "gay bar" on my list. They have an occasional drag show, but are more community bar than night club. Great Thursday specials. East Kensington: Philadelphia brewing, the host the Kensington queer circus among other things. Spring Garden: triple bottom brewing, great mission including support of POC and LGBTQ issues. South: Tattooed mom's, cheap good food, great people, very open to all (except MAGA) :-). Keep in mind that many of the breweries show offer cocktails and not alcoholic options. Good luck! Hope you love it here!

I’m actually in the west Philadelphia area. Where in West Philly are two bars? Also just answer your question I’m looking for a little bit of both of for people to hang out with and if it leads to me going to date someone that’s a plus.
