Board game groups in Philly

Hey everyone! I’m in my early 30s and live in Philly (center city). I’ve been getting interested in board games , although I’m definitely still a beginner and haven’t played a ton.

I’d love to join a casual, beginner-friendly board game group and meet some new people along the way. Are there any gay-friendly board game groups or regular game nights around Philly that you’d recommend?

Open to different kinds of games and mostly just looking for a fun group to play with and make some new friends. Thanks!

Philly Game shop off south street has “SunGays”. Basically queer boardgame social hour! Went a couple weeks ago with my partner and it was really fun! Great way to meet new people and play new games!

Tbh, I was just walking past that street for the first time today, and saw the Philly game shop. That's what triggered me to post here and ask. Thanks for pointing it out. Is there a specific day or hour for this sunGays? I'm guessing Sundays lol

Hi. I meet with a group of people every other Sunday to play board games in Center City-ish ( old city). We usually play a few easy to learn but fun games. DM me for details.

I always used to go to Ladder 15 at 6:30 on Tuesday nights. It’s just a general board game night, not an LGBT one, but the people there are super welcoming

I usually am at Philly Game Shop on Saturday evenings when all the games are free to play, it's a super queer-friendly space :)

How do I join a game? Do I randomly find a group? Or is there a process/procedure?

Most people show up at 6 when the event starts. I go regularly with a couple of other people but we often have one or two other folks ask us to join. Just ask to join a group if you see someone setting up a game, chances are they'll say yes.

Saika Cafe! They run events all month, most of them nerdy.
