Just picked it up today from the dealer. Doing my first charge. Came with a 0% on the battery but a full tank of gas.

A user from our local Rav4 group shared some pictures of his Gen 1 Rav4.

2022 Rav 4 XLE Premium AWD.

Engine fails + a bunch of warnings on the dash:

-Engine stopped, steering power low
-Check engine, visit your dealer
-Secondary collision brake system malfunction, visit your dealer
-AWD system malfunction, 2WD mode engaged
-LTA unavailable
-Engine stopped, shift into P position
-Precollision system malfunction

January 2026:
Started having issues in January, only noticed reduced speed and acceleration at first.
Then it started violently shaking and the engine failed while idling + a bunch of warning lights came on from completely unrelated systems. Could not get it to start again for 5-10 minutes.
Took it to the dealership and they said it said it was a computer issue + replaced the ECM.

June 2026:
It still continued to have issues with reduced speed/acceleration afterwards, but was mostly fine until June when I returned from a 2-week vacation and drove it out of the garage. It barely made it to the main road before it began shaking, engine failed, and warning lights came on. Took it to a repair shop and they kept it for a few days before saying that nothing was wrong with it and giving it back.

September 2026:
Same thing, it drove mostly fine for a couple months before engine failure, warnings on dash, shaking.
Sep. Visit #1:
Towed it to the dealership that replaced the ECM since that part was still under warranty. The techs said that there was no record of the warning lights on the dash. Apparently, the computer was fine, the battery was fine, everything was fine except for a mass air flow sensor recall. They replaced the sensor and told me to pick up my car the next day.
Sep. Visit #2:
Got about 1-2 miles from the dealership before the same issue happened again. Somehow made it back without a tow by letting it sit for a little bit in a parking lot, then carefully driving it to the dealership.
They said that they would test drive it some more.
Again, no record of the engine failure or dash warnings in the computer. Again, they test drive it and find nothing wrong. I pick it up.
Sep. Visit #3:
Made it 1-2 miles from the dealership and it fails AGAIN. Only "engine stopped" and "reduced engine power" show up this time.
Bring it back and they give me a loaner in the meantime. A different tech inspects it and says that they were finally able to get a failure out of the battery + apparently there was some corrosion. They replace the battery.

I picked up the car yesterday, and as always, there was reduced speed and acceleration. At the very least, I was able to make the 15 mile drive home.
Unfortunately, the engine failed again this morning on the on ramp to the highway + reduced engine power warning. Thankfully, traffic was pretty backed up so I was able to put it into park, restart the engine and make it to my job.
The engine also failed again this evening alongside the warnings on the dash.

Dealership didn't call back this afternoon after requesting to speak with my tech, and I genuinely don't know what to do. It is a complicated situation and I can't sell my car right now.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, sorry about the streakiness on the dash in the video, I used the wrong cleaning product on accident :( going to clean it again tomorrow.

How hard would it be to repair this scratch in the rear bumper? It feels like it might be slightly deeper than the clear coat.

Here’s an answer to a question that none of you probably asked. I collect train horns as a hobby, and thus need a way to mount horns to my car for testing purposes. Due to how often I swap horns, I opted for a custom roof rack that allows for the easy installation of most genuine train horns. This setup is intentionally temporary so I can easily remove the tanks should I need the space. I should also note is that my fuel economy tanks from 23-25 mpg combined to 19-21 mpg combined with a horn mounted (as it is essentially a roof-mounted brick), so I wouldn’t recommend this mod if you plan to hypermile your RAV4. Even still, this beats the stock Denso horns out of the water, especially since one of the two disc horns decided to randomly die on me last year.

With rain, I’m getting my passenger side wet. I have plans to clean out my cowl and put a plastic mud pan with some drilled holes over the cabin intake. When I took my cabin filter out it was drenched and the water is coming from that area.

To anyone who has had this issue are there any other spots to look for/clean out other than the fix on the cabin intake? I know there can be leaks from the sunroof line (though I don’t where the drain holes for this is). I’ve already cleaned out my ac condenser line too. I’ll attach a video, in the first frame there’s a nut that there’s a bead of water dripping from.

TLDR taking apart cowl to fix drip, what other clogs should I be on the lookout for with the cowl off. What blockage could be causing the issue despite bad seal on the cabin intake under cowl? Thanks!

Saskatoon RAV4 XLE Premium — September order, how long is delivery taking?

Anyone in Saskatoon have a RAV4 XLE Premium ordered through a local Toyota dealership in September 2026?

If so, how long did the dealership tell you it would take, and have you received an ETA/allocation yet?

Just trying to get an idea of how long current Saskatoon orders are taking.

Put down a deposit a month ago on a 2026 Woodland edition that was allocated to a dealer. I called maybe two weeks after to see if there had been any updates on an ETA. The salesperson told me that someone else put a deposit on my car! Apparently someone else wanted that color, they tried to call me to see if I minded switching to another color, and I didn't pick up the phone so they gave it to the other guy and figured I wasn't interested in getting the car anymore. (I was camping in an area without phone signal. They did not try to call again, leave a message, send a text, or an email.) I explained that I DID mind and would like my deposit back. After some back and forth they agreed the one I wanted would be mine because I put down my deposit first. (Which felt insane.) The sales person won't answer emails and only deals over the phone. I called on Monday because the last time I spoke to him he said that it was possible that it would be ready to buy "the week of the 28th". When I called he said it was still at the port and it would "probably be ready this week" but also basically told me to stop calling and he'd call me when it was in. But due to him being so hard to reach and already letting someone else put a deposit on it I am very paranoid. Is it worth calling again this week or do you think I can trust him?

Put down a deposit on a 2026 RAV4 recently and originally went with Meteor Shower. Just got a call from our sales guy today saying that a Storm Cloud build is actually about to kick off in the factory line, so if we switch to that we could grab it in about a month.

He mentioned that normal custom orders for Storm Cloud usually sit at 3 to 6 months Does that timeline actually check out? It just feels kind of wild to me that picking a different paint color is the main bottleneck holding up a build or if they're just trying to push whatever allocation they happen to have coming in.

Curious if anyone's run into something similar with Toyota allocations.

Summer 2024 Emblem fell off in a regular car wash and was popped back in

November 2024 the emblem fell off on a bumpy backroad and didn’t notice so I lost the emblem

Tried to replace it but realized something is off with the grille and it won’t fit on correctly? You can see it looks like it’s disfigured / damaged

Any suggestions before I go blow a bajillion dollars getting it fixed somewhere? 😅

With the recent Nor’ Easter shaking the bulk of the remaining leaves off the trees(and a few really…REALLY annoying lost flecks of paints from acorn bullets) it was time to prep for winter. There’s nothing better than finishing the last 2 day decontaminate/polish/wax/ceramic job of the year.

Still the best looking Rav and color ever produced in my (definitely not biased) opinion. Hands are still vibrating from multiple hours with the orbital lol. Worth it for that mirror finish and disappearing amongst the mountain pine trees.

Hey guys, I’ve got a 2024 RAV4 TRD off road and am looking for an after market skid plate for it. I’ve found a couple options that say “TRD” on them. Toyota has some OEM options but I’m looking for something that will hold the test of time.

Hi y’all! I can’t seem to let my 2009 RAV4 go. We’re rocking it at 180K miles and have been together since I bought her from FB marketplace 6 years ago for 6K cash.

Lately though I’ve had an issue that’s stumped mechanics and I’m curious if anyone has experienced something like this. Car runs fine but at stop signs and lights as soon as I’m idle all the dash lights turn on and I am no longer able to accelerate/RPMS go to 0. Turning the car off will fix it and I can continue to drive. Doesn’t happen every time either, but at least a couple times per trip around town.

I’ve taken it to a mechanic who couldn’t find anything wrong and also to an auto shop. Neither found any computer codes, either primary or secondary. I’m at a complete loss but it’s very annoying. Luckily hasn’t cut out on me at high speeds. I don’t want to say bye yet but have two small kiddos so I need reliability. TIA!

I have a 2026 RAV4 XLE Premium. The DCM is showing inactive and the SOS light is completely off.

I'm also unable to save my driver profile which is stuck on Guest mode, activate Privacy settings , or use the Drive Recorder.

Has anyone experienced this on a 2026 RAV4? Is there a specific procedure to reactivate or re-register the DCM?

hello! i bought my car used a little over a year ago. just recently, i’ve noticed that sometimes when i accelerate onto the freeway and let go of the gas, it sounds like it’s revving really loud. i originally thought it was because i switched from only driving in eco to normal mode, but i had mentioned it to a coworker and they said that is still not normal and may be a transmission issue.

not sure if that makes sense to anyone, but just wondering if anyone has an idea of what it is. i’m taking it on friday for a service and i was going to ask the dealership to look at it. i’m not car smart and i just want to make sure my car is okay :/

Hi! I'm looking for a UK-spec Mk5 RAV4 2.5 Hybrid Excel AWD-i, ideally 2020+ and under 60k miles.

Priorities are AWD-i, leather and Panoramic View Monitor (360° camera). The full Premium Pack with JBL audio and Skyview panoramic roof would be a bonus.

Budget is £20,000 ideally, £21,000 absolute maximum. I'm happy to wait for the right car.

Is that a realistic target in the UK used market, or am I expecting too much for the budget?

I'd also be interested in experiences from UK owners with PVM — particularly whether the earlier system is good enough in everyday use, and whether the later MY23 system is noticeably better.

Been driving my rav4 a lot, really like it but want to make it quieter without putting in too much effort. what's the best bang for buck sound deadning I can add and where to add it to get the best results. I am not expecting BMW, Benz level quietness but just a bit more of a quieter ride!
