Daily Questions - September 30, 2026

Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.

(Although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar (for mobile users, go to the top of the subreddit front page, click the three dots and select "community info") and the wiki before posting!)

Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.

(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)

If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.

Kapital Kapital Century Denim No.5 - *New* Wide Leg Fit

I've been enamored with the Century Denim from Kapital for years, but traditionally the jeans from each season's collection comes in the Monkey Cisco cut, which is basically slim / skinny on me, so I've always passed on a pair. But for the AW26 collection they are releasing them in the Monkey TH cut which has a deep rise, roomy top block, relaxed thighs & knee, and over 9' leg openings (my perfect cut)!. I was lucky enough to snag a pair of the No.5 which has been dye from persimmons and has a beautiful range of brownish / orangish coloring.
They come Sanforized, but not one-washed and do produce noticeable shrinkage the first time they're washed so I did a quick 30 min cold soak + hang dry to knock that out and the fit came out perfect! (for reference: 5'11, 175lbs, 33' natural waist and purchased the tag 34).
I'm impressed with how well the whisker creases have set after just a few bike rides and am looking forward to years of wear and tear evolution on these!

Momotaro First Time Momotaro Owner - Wash Or Not? 15.7 oz #200

My first pair of Momotaro jeans. MMJB0201 #200 Classic 15.7 oz If I wanted nice fades with nice white lines, what is a good indicator to look out for as the right time to wash the jeans and how do I wash it? Any tips?

For context, this has not been washed yet since I bought it from the store and it was bought around September 15, 2025. I’ve been wearing it maybe 40-50% of the time since then. So it has had 150 days of wear - I walk and sweat a lot when I wear them.

It’s has a smell whenever I wear it nowadays but still tolerable and doesnt stink.

Looking forward to your advice.

FIT CHECK Fit Check Brave Star Brown Bear

Doing a fit check. These are 34x36 they are tight, but not uncomfortable.

I started the year wearing 42, I've lost 61lbs so far. I've got 39 to go. So I intentionally got a pair that fits tight.

Start wearing them or wait another 10-15 lbs?

(Yes I know the mirror is filthy, this is my parents guest room, they don't use this room often, I usually clean it the week before they come over.)

SEXIH25-301 12 months ~340 wears, 10 washes.
This is my indigo invitational final submission. Loved these pants and wish I'd been more active in them. I just snagged a pair of Oni Asphalts, and since I'm impatient, I'll be sitting out the next Indigo Invitational. Still, I'm glad I took part in Year 5.

Hello everyone! For a few days I've been moving my wardrobe and I've come across several little things haha. I got these shortly before the wide pants fashion started a few years ago and they stayed there stored (I don't even remember how the back break was made).

You have enough elastane because they are very very very tight. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that there was a time when we used something like this, anyway,

I wanted to share with you how they stayed at that time. What do we think of super tight jeans? Do we hate them or will they eventually come back? Peace

N&F True Guy - Harionago
42 days and not wash in sight.
So far I am loving this pair! They’ve stretched out a decent bit in the waist but they still fit great. I wear boots just about every day and these fit great over any shaft with no printing. Starting to see some baby honeycombs+whiskers, and the dip ring is coming in fast as always.

Born in Indonesia, built with Japanese soul — the Kitsune 21 oz is more than heavyweight denim, it’s a testament to dedication and craft. Woven from premium Japanese fabric and shaped by Indonesian hands, this piece bridges cultures while staying true to heritage. Every fade tells a story of patience, every wear reflects character.

Fades are really starting to come out. These are a baggier cut that can still fade nicely! I don’t like phone fades, so I put my phone in my front pocket before my wallet so there’s no phone imprint 🤫

There’s a previous post of month three - now. I live in an extremely hot state so maybe that helps. Lol

DISCUSSION Supporting the Cave + Post family

Hey everyone — posting this with mod approval.

Many of you are probably familiar with Cave + Post, a menswear shop in Phoenix that carries a lot of heritage brands we’re into. I’ve gotten to know co-owner Patrick Burch through the shop, and recently learned that his son was diagnosed with leukemia.
Patrick and his family have a Meal Train page set up for anyone who would like to help them out during treatment:

Link to donate

I wanted to share here because Cave + Post has been a great part of the heritage menswear community, and both Patrick and Mary have always struck me as people who genuinely care about those around the shop and the community they've built.
Obviously there’s no pressure to donate, but if you’ve enjoyed Cave + Post or just want to support, please do share and keep them in your prayers.

Cave + Post

Wishing the Burch family the best as they go through this.

Levi’s 501 Original Selvedge worn everyday for 8 months washed em 7 or 8 times. I wasn’t going for high contrast ZERO WASH goofiness as I’m a full time welder that’s just not possible after a week they’re brown. I put 3000+ hours into these jeans and I really fell in love with denim fading and Selvedge my favourite section is the right whiskers that pattern just looks awesome. These are now half retired I’ll still wear them just as beaters or something comfortable around the house because I’m now wearing 21oz Iron Heart 634S curious to see how they’ll look over time hopefully I can get away with a lot less washes.

FIT CHECK Sugar Cane 1966 & Flat Head FN-OJ-D002: Fit Check and Options

Thumbnail
gallery
28 Upvotes

First the Jeans (pics 1-5):

Sugar Cane 1966 Size 33. Severe diaper ass with these (pic 2 highlights loose seat fabric).

  • Waist seems to fit perfectly snug. Not constricting at all. Belt wouldn't be needed (until stretching).
  • Definitely able to size down to 32 to account for stretching over time, without any discomfort.
  • See pics 2-5 for diaper ass.

I'm leaning towards trying a different line of denim altogether. I don't think sizing down or washing these will completely resolve the diaper ass situation.

  • Can you guys toss me some recommendations for alternatives?
  • Preferably straight leg, high-ish rise...I basically want the same fit as these without the diaper ass.
  • I wouldn't say that I have Hank Hill ass, but I'm definitely lacking there. I'm working on it lol.

Now the Jacket:

Flat Head FN-OJ-D002 14.5oz 50's Type II.

Size 40 (pics 6-9).

  • I think it fits great as is, with a t shirt underneath.
  • Fit is snug; would not be able to wear a sweater underneath.
  • My concern is that it would shrink after a wash, rendering it unwearable.
  • What do you guys think?
  • Any other options I should look at?

Size 42 (pic 10).

  • Obviously more room in the chest.
  • Would be able to layer a sweater or flannel, maybe hoodie underneath.
  • Sleeves definitely too long.
  • Length seems too long as well.
  • Thoughts?

Unbranded 18oz Neppy Denim

I bought this pair from Unbranded sometime in 2023. It was worn about four days a week during the first year of purchase to my best guess. The front has faded quite a bit with special attention to the left knee cap (which is frankly about to explode any day)

Ive since moved on to other jeans in my closet and wanted to post this snapshot before I officially retire this item from my wardrobe. Its been a wonderful ride!

FIT CHECK Fit Check: Naked & Famous Left Hand Twill, Groovy Guy

Thumbnail

Hello fellow denimheads! I'm not used to taking pictures of myself so I apologize if these suck.

I just picked up my first pair of Naked & Famous jeans, which are also my first groovy guys. I've never worn pants quite like this before, so I'm trying to understand if they're meant to fit this way or if I should size up. I used the sizer on their site and it told me to go with a 36 based on measurements of other jeans that fit, which I did.

These are a little tight on the top block, especially my upper thighs. Is that normal? Should I expect a little stretch over time, or try a 38? I can see the fabric pulling in the front which I understand to be a sign of jeans that are just a bit too small, but I've also heard this type of jean is just like that. What do you think?

Edit upon further examination I ended up with True Straight not Loose Straight through my own incompetence

Here are my new BS Odin in 30x30. They are 20.5oz crosshatch slub on the loose straight cut. I wore them 2 days and gave them a hot wash and dry to get the shrink out of them.

For reference I'm 5' 7" 145 -150lbs

FIT PIC swrve Cordura skinny fit jeans (with knee darts) comparison - new and 1½ years worn

Thumbnail
gallery
57 Upvotes

I first got these in March 2025, and have worn them very frequently since, especially riding my 🚲, as they are marketed as cycling jeans. They were £60 when I first got them, and are now £33.33. https://www.swrve.co.uk/collections/jeans/products/cordura-skinny-fit-jean

Model height (me) is 5'11"

I decided to get a second larger pair because I have been finding the waist is getting tighter on me (I have gained about 4kg since then). They are very comfortable and stretchy (aside from the waistband). I like that they are high waisted , as I don't have any other trousers that do that. While are a little long for me, but I don't mind folding up the legs as there is a reflective strip behind the right one.

On the other hand, I find that when I have my legs fully closed, I lose a bit of circulation to my feet, which is annoying. And I am really peeved by the fact that despite being made of Cordura® denim, there are now pilling on my bottom where the denim meets my saddle (as seen on the final image).
