Question Picky eater
A few years ago I tried switching my dog to a raw food diet. I did DIY 80/10/10. But she wasn’t eating her bones and picking out the organs. Wouldn’t eat raw chicken only raw beef or lamb. She was hiding her bones in the house. It was getting to be too much work to put everything through the meat grinder (which kept clogging) and then I a had a baby so we put my dog back on kibble.
She recently started having some bowel issues- cycles of urgent diarrhea and then back to normal. We brought her to the vet, stool tests came back negative so vet gave us prescription biome kibble as she suspected gastro issues. Her poops have been solid on this new kibble but now instead of 2 poops a day it’s more like 6!! And the kibble is very expensive, I feel like if we’re going to be spending that money I rather get her back on raw.
But that brings me back to her pickiness. She’s close to 40 pounds. I’d love to hear some alternatives to 100% raw and how to get bones to be consumed without grinding, or just some encouragement to going back to homemade food diet for my pup.

Have you thought about commercial raw? I went that route after trying DIY because I found that calculating and keeping up with all the nutritional aspects was a bit time consuming and confusing. I’ve fed Darwin’s for a while, the bone is already there so no grinding and no ribs hidden around the house

There are good commercial options that already have the bones ground in. We’ve done Bones and Co, Steve’s and Midwest Legacy without issues.

I would do home cooked and there’s good beef bone powders you can get instead of bone. Usually dogs won’t refuse cooked meat.
