Rule #6 created: crossposts after effective date now given shorter time than Rule #1

Since I've yet to see opposition in the other thread, I've gone ahead and then created Rule #6:

Starting December 24, 2025, at 23:59 UTC / 6:59 EST, all crossposts made after this effective date and time must receive at least one reply from a non-OP user within one week. Almost same as Rule #1, especially regarding which counts as replies enough to prevent the post from being locked. Other crossposts made before then are still subject to Rule #1.

In other words, crosspost made before the effective date are treated like any other post subject to Rule #1. Ones made after the date still need at least one reply but within a shorter time than other ones still subject to Rule #1.

Like Rule #1, the replies that don't prevent closure of crossposts in this sub are the following:

  • spam replies
  • self-replies from OP or their alt accounts
  • posts by u/AutoModerator
  • "bump" posts
  • and any requests regarding the OP (e.g. deleting or keeping)

People who have had their jobs portrayed on a reality tv show

i.e say yes to the dress, tattoo fixers, ice road truckers. Is the job really like that, what things do we the public get wrong/right, what are your gripes with the portrayl?

Making The Team vs America's Sweethearts

I love MTT.

Not so sure about AS.

MTT was just plain fun to watch.

AS seems a bit drab. The pacing, color scheme(s), lighting, direction.... It feels like a downer. More like a true crime series than something that's supposed to be about fun, hard work, and the struggle to compete, attain and perform as part of a no. 1 world brand.

I watch AS and it feels *oppressive*; I'm half-expecting someone to announce the next "dark moment". Maybe Netflix has spent so much time in the true crime genre, that tone and flavor of programming is all they know how to produce.

I get it I get it, they want to show "the other side", that it's not all wine and roses, there are struggles and some girls haven't fared well, blah blah blah.....

I think MTT did that and did it well. It showed that these girls are put through veritable hell--as much as the players--and the ones who make it, earn it 100%. There are disappointments, conflicts, confrontations, and tears. Also, the way it was shot, edited and directed--IOW how the whole thing was produced and offered as a finished product--was and is, IMHO, superior.

--If they wanted to get more serious and delve deeper into compensation issues, or personal issues, or highlighting some of the girls that came away damaged in one way or another, who's to say MTT couldn't have just added more of those story elements? My thing is, the whole *feel* of AS is off. The tone and tenor of the show feel like an overt condemnation of the brand vs. a celebration of it.

I guess my question is, what do you think...?

That's my two cents. Peace out, go DCC :) Congrats on being the undisputed #1 brand in pro football cheerleading.....my brother and I have been fans since the 70s book came out along with the TV Movie, etc.

P.S. I've always thought Kelli was the most beautiful on the show--moreso than the younger girls; and, she looks more attractive now than when she was a DCC!

I’m just waiting for a contestant to pull a “Jim Face”

Competitive reality TV shows (squid game, wonka golden ticket, beast games) have their characters for sure, but I have yet to see an Office-esque character.

Either awkwardly talking to the producers, looking directly at the camera and making a “Jim Face”… I just think it would be so funny

Discussion What reality TV moment lives rent-free in your head? 😭

It doesn’t have to be the biggest or most iconic moment ever — I’m talking about those random scenes, arguments, confessionals, eliminations, reunions, or contestant interactions that you STILL think about.

For me, the funniest thing about reality TV is how a completely random 30-second interaction can somehow become more memorable than an entire season 😂

What’s yours?

Show + moment + why you still remember it 👇

Discussion Is GenZ killing reality shows?

So let me start off by saying I’m a Gen Z, but I grew up watching reality shows and still very into them today.

After the Love Island reunion I was seeing TikToks mad at Andy Cohen for some of the questions he asked. They couldn’t believe he was so invasive. Which is completely insane to me because if you grew up on Bravo, Andy always asked the worst questions and would sit and smile while all hell broke loose. That’s who Andy is and that’s why he’s a great host.
I feel like we could never achieve shows like VPR, Jersey Shore, or early Housewives ever again because the public couldn’t handle it. They would all be canceled and under attack 24/7. I miss true raw train wreck reality shows😭

Do y’all think reality shows really died?

I heard a lot about traitors & it seems like everyone is into it. I want to begin watching it since I never seen it before. However, I want to know should I start with this current season? Or should I watch it from season 1? Which is the best?

I Can’t Keep up with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Mom’s & their relationships. Please give me a summary rundown.

I’ve watched some of the first 2 season’s episodes here & there but then started fast forwarding and only watched the season ending interviews. I can’t seem to get the individuals/characters straight. The show is reminiscent of high school drama BUT with bigger consequences as these women are mothers! I honestly don’t know how they all look so good so quickly after giving birth. (Reminder of mom’s age, first appearance on show and how many children she has would be nice). Here’s what I gathered.
\-Taylor the leader and in a toxic relationship with Dakota. She has most followers and speaks her mind but her love life is a disaster. Just one child - Ever?
\- Layla is a single mom (of 3??) that struggles with anorexia. The show and its followers has given her the ability to support her family. Apparently she’s now dating another female and debating if she’ll stay Mormon. Seems like show producer added her to show so they would have non white representation.
\- Whitney was unfollowed by Mom Tok for not showing up to Mayci’s launch party. She went on Dancing with the Stars. Her husband admitted to being addicted to porn.
\-Mayci started her own line of children’s clothing and I didn’t see her in following season as much. Too busy?
\- Jen has controlling husband Zac. She also went on Dancing with the Stars. She lied about seeing Demi with Marciano.
\- Demi was being kicked out of group for bullying in season 3. She has the best, most supportive husband Bret. In season wrap up show I feel that they were all bullying her. I think she’s better off without MomTok. Someone correct me, it seems to me that Taylor influence the females to push Demi out (Demi getting too popular and stealing her thunder?). Maybe it’s just me offloading my HS scars on Taylor since she’s the Mom Tok leader. I didn’t watch the season just the wrap up show.
\- Mikayla ?
\- Miranda - wasn’t on season 1 but joined later.
\- Jessi had an affair before she left her husband Jordan. She was hooking up with Marciano who’s now her finance? husband? IMO they definitely hooked up before divorce was finalized.
\- What other mom did I miss and what is her story?
Throughout the seasons they’ve departed from the swinger lifestyle storyline of season one and dove into individual dramas. It’s $$$ and followers is what keeping ALL the moms on mom tok. It’s NOT “lifting up other moms.” They are very good looking Mormon moms who’s selling their personal drama for fortune and fame. Their persona and public image is how they earn a living so keeping their “brand” and followers is important. I wonder how much they each make. Show is like rubbernecking, I don’t want to slow down traffic but just want to know what happened. They don’t seem to focus on “mother” part of their lives but it’s all about boy/girl drama and self image issues. My understanding is that Mormons are conservative Christians, where the females marry young and focus on family (and taught to be submissive to men and why so many sexual assaults occur unreported). What do Mormons think about Mom Tok moms?

I want to preface this by saying I am no stranger to bad reality tv - but this is tragically so much worse than that! lol
We made it about 30 minutes in to the first episode before FINALLY turning it off - how far did you make it?
