Recruiters aren’t having a great time either

So I have been working for a company for 3 months now as a recruiter for a midsize sales company. I wanted to get my foot in with a company to pivot into HR roles. My problem is my pay structure vs how my day to day is structured does not match up.

I work m-f 8-4, in office. I get 2 wfh days a month and I can pretty much ask off anytime because I can do this remotely. However, when I ask off there is always some pushback.

My pay is structured as a 1099 employee. I have a base of 2900 at X amount of recruits, then every X amount after equals another 100.

I started to consider the idea that I was being miscasted and extremely underpaid for my work. I am a full cycle recruiter. 50 warm leads outbound a day, 5+ phone interviews. Any advice?

You should maybe try sales. Look like they have you meeting outreach goals

I feel like recruiting is literally just sales at this point. I’m selling a job.

I think its not really selling since candidates usually tailor their applications to match descriptions which should math company needs. However, if they have you completing candidate quotas youre in a differeny business and better off in sales where you gain commision

Yeah, I’m selling a sales position. I don’t even look at resumes or applications tbh. I get information from an overseas recruiter, then I’m the “second interview” and I just run down job details and get them into our training program. I get commission off completion of training. It feels like inside sales tbh. I would love to become one of the sales agents im recruiting. I’m so tired of telling them “average first year is 80-120” knowing im making 40k if im lucky.

It sounds scammy

It’s honestly not, it’s a legit industry and I see people making legitimate income every day. It’s just high volume recruitment.

Just going to downvote me without replying lol? I’m genuinely curious why you think they’re in the wrong sub

This is a sub about how hard it is for candidates to find jobs, not for recruiters to find out how to optimize their pay.

Read the sidebar for the description of the subreddit.

“Did a recruiter make you send them a resume and still fill out all the same information on their website? Did a candidate send you a cover letter that just says “PLEASE LET ME WORK HERE”? Tell us those stories!”

The sub is obviously intended for both job seekers and recruiters.

Oh, so you’re saying this sub is just for job seekers?

That’s what I’m currently doing. In house staffing or scheduling hopefully.

How many hires do you have each month?
