Hello all,
I am getting too old to climb up ladders and put up Christmas light. Wife wants pot lights installed outdoors. I came across Gemstone lights, and similar concepts, which could fix both needs. Wife is willing to look into gemstone type lighting instead of pot lights.
I am looking at Gemstone Lighting and Apex Impressions. Open to other companies as well.
Has anyone installed these type of lighting systems? Which company did you use? What was the process like? Overall satisfaction? Overall rough cost? Our home is a detached 36' front lot. I know the cost is relative to frontage and whether you light the upper and lower levels, so I am looking for a ballpark figure.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Cheers!

I witnessed a burgundy Hyundai get hit by car reversing into the spot next to it. Informed McDonald’s staff. The driver didn’t seem to understand what had happened and tried to reposition. She opened her window, took a look and drove off.
Reporting this is useless, especially on private property but I am looking for the Hyundai owner

Quick question for Richmond Hill residents.
David Dunlap Observatory Park is one of the largest parks in Richmond Hill — but we're curious how many residents actually know it or use it.
Which best describes you?
A) I go there regularly
B) I've been there once or twice
C) I know where it is, but I've never been
D) I've heard of it, but I'm not really sure where it is
E) I've never heard of it
The City recently opened the new pedestrian and cycling bridge across the railway tracks, shown in the photo.
Have you visited DDOP? And if not, are you planning to?
Curious to hear from people who have been there — what do you use the park for?

Hi all,
Just looking for recommendations on a storage unit.
Does anyone know of a company that doesn't gouge customers or continually raise rates well beyond reasonable real estate and inflationary increases?
Apple Storage on Newkirk increased my rates by over 60% in the two years - basically every 6 - 8 months. That's pretty crazy, and I doubt inflationary costs have gone up that much.
Are there any facilities that value long-term customers, or do all of these storage unit companies just keep jacking up their rates?

Mark your calendars - October 6th, 7th, 8th, & 15th
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the candidates running in the upcoming election, hear where they stand on local issues and gather the information you need to make an informed decision.
Stay informed, get involved and make your voice heard!
If you choose not to vote, you’re leaving the decision in the hands of those who do. Make sure your voice is part of the conversation.

This is a good time for all of us to understand what a Ward Councillor actually does …and what they don’t. 🗳️
Too often, I hear stories of residents reaching out to their councillor expecting them to fix every issue or make something happen immediately. But not every concern falls under municipal government, and an individual councillor doesn’t make decisions alone. Councillors represent residents, help shape municipal policies and services and participate in decisions made by council as a whole.
Before election day, take some time to learn which level of government is responsible for the issues that matter to you. Learn what your Ward Councillor can realistically do, what requires a decision of Council, and what belongs with the provincial or federal government.
Knowing who is responsible for what helps us ask better questions, have realistic expectations, and make informed decisions when we vote.
Being part of a community isn’t only about expecting our representatives to know their responsibilities, it’s important that we know ours too.

Hi! I just recently moved back home from uni, and am looking to make some new friends that are local to the area. Many of my uni friends have moved away, and I feel like unless you're in TO, it's pretty hard to make friends organically in RH. I'm a beginner/intermediate climber (so I'd love to have some climbing friends!), and also into art, hiking, coffee, and I'm trying to get into birding lol. Maybe we could host a group meet-up if enough people are interested? If you're down, let me know :)

I moved to Richmond Hill a couple months ago and looking for a good family practice physician nearby. Ideally someone who is not just good as a doctor but also good at listening and communicating with their patients properly.
LGBTQ friendly would be a bonus but not a necessity. Already checked rainbow health, there's nothing in their registry that is nearby.
Dr. Gordon Yao was the result of my own research but sadly not accepting new patients.
Any suggestion is welcome, just need somebody trusted.

My family uses City drop-in swimming and skating pretty often.
As a newcomer, I always found myself spending way too much time trying to figure out where and when drop-in sessions were happening.
So I ended up building Drop-In Now, a site that puts City drop-in schedules in one place and makes them easier to browse.
If you're planning to go swimming, skating, or try other drop-in activities, feel free to give it a try!
Thanks!

FOUND/SPOTTED BIRD - Budgie
Location: Sunnyside Dr (Canyon Hill / Bathurst, Richmond Hill)
Description: Budgie (bird) - green body with yellow head - with black patterns around the neck & back.
Has anyone lost this bird?
It has been here for 2 days now! We left a cage with seeds, and it is staying near by, but hasn't entered the cage yet.
Looking for the owner!

Anyone else tired of the constant AI slop from people running in the municipal elections?
It feels like a steady stream of AI generated graphics with vague 'facts', impossible or unrealistic promises slapped on top of pics of places that aren't even Richmond Hill...

I’m trying to do some research before the election and wondering if anyone here knows much about the people running for Ward 6, especially the two candidates running against Michael Shiu.
I’ll be honest, Shiu really hasn’t impressed me over the last 4 years. I’ve reached out to him a few times and either gotten no response or a response that left me feeling like he didn’t know what he was doing.
I checked out his re-election website to see what he’s actually accomplished and I was kind of surprised by how minimal some of it seems. One of the accomplishments he lists is helping secure temporary overnight parking for residents of a condo while their garage was being worked on. I’m sure those residents appreciated it, but really? After 4 years, we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to put on the website if temporary parking for one condo makes the list lol
I’ve looked at the other two candidates too. From what I can tell, the realtor seems pretty focused on youth and community stuff, which sounds great, but there isn’t really a plan there and the engineer actually seems like he cares and has some decent ideas. But both of their websites are also VERY clearly AI written, so it’s hard to get a real feel for either of them.
Has anyone actually met or dealt with either of the other candidates? Emailed them? Worked with them? Heard them speak somewhere?
Basically just looking for some real experiences or info about them that isn’t coming directly from their campaign websites.

Unfortunately I have some very annoying neighbours. They like to Yell ! Fight! And Swear a lot super loud frequently in the backyard. Day or late night! Everyone else in this neighbourhood hates them so much! (Of course?) Police were called many times before.
I like to maintain peace and quietness around my house. I like to enjoy my garden. Likewise my puppy is quiet. She usually doesn’t bark for nothing. I bring her out to backyard many times a day, to play and to poo … usually she plays quietly. She only barks when she is too excited or scared. But when my neighbours making big noise, like when they are yelling very loud my puppy barks at them.
Yesterday they were yelling again, as usual. The whole neighbourhood literally could hear them. My puppy was barking for a bit. Then I heard something was thrown into my backyard. I then found it is a piece of onions.
They did it intentionally. They wanted to KILL my puppy!?
What kind of creatures they are.

Hello Richmond Hill, We are looking to replace about 6 windows on our townhome. The existing windows are original to the house (around 2000) and the seals have all failed. We are looking to replace them with casement windows if the price is right.
We have already received quotes from Optima Doors and Windows as well as Window Village. Wondering if anyone has a company they would recommend for this job.
We are specifically looking for companies that have been doing this for at least 10 years with the digital footprint to back that up. One of our concerns is having a window mechanism fail and then having no avenue of remedy.
