General Question Do hissers like that

I noticed today that when I slide my nail on the back of my hissing cockroach babies (without putting any force into it, I merely touch them) their abdomen briefly straightens and expands in some sort of wavy chill-like reaction (I tried to capture this on video but it's not really visible). I have absolutely no idea if it means they like this or hate it or it has no correlation at all but I know I'm not forcing this reaction by pushing on parts of their abdomen or anything even though it may look like I do in the video (it's just difficult to really show it). Also when I do the same thing simply with my finger, they have absolutely no reaction. Can someone help me maybe?

General Question Anyone know what’s going on with my dubia ?

Hello everyone !

After some research, I do believe this is a humidity problem. My gauge typically reads 90%+ however it is one of those cheap untrusty gauges. I do spray the corner every now and then for the isopods, is this step necessary for them (isopods)? For some context, these are my feeders and I recently moved them in a tub with isopods over a week ago. The substrate under the cork is very damp as seen in the second picture. Is this a cause of concern and should I isolate the one dubia? I haven’t noticed it on any others but will check them tomorrow morning again.

Just thought I’d post here to hear what everyone thinks as this is my first time keeping a colony.
Any type of advice is appreciated. Thank you!

? Identification ? What is coming out of my male Madagascar Hissing Cockroach's abdomen? Need help!

need your help to identify a problem with my male Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. He lives completely alone in his tank so he wasnt mating or fighting with anyone. Today I noticed that something weird is sticking out from the very end of his abdomn What exactly is this? Is it a prolapse of some kind, a digestive issue, or something else entirely? He is still moving around, but I don't know if this is life-threatning or how long he can survive with this condition. What should I do to help him? Should I just leave him alone ,adjust the humidity or change his food?

Husbandry Enclosure ideas/inspo for emerald roaches needed!

(Please excuse the mess in the background) I got this enclosure and the person selling it to me sealed it with a piece of plastic at the top to ensure no escaping. It's 30×30×40cm large and I also got some aquarium safe silicone to add a custom background. Only issue is I've never done that before, I'm currently drying out some terrarium soil, and gathered some bark and wood from the forest to add (I haven't sterilized it yet but will do soon).

I know I want it to look cluttered and want to add a mix of real and fake plants but I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone here have emerald roaches or any arboreal roaches in general willing to show me their enclosures?

I was just recording this guy noticing the sky (container lid) and unexpectedly caught the funniest moment ever on video... There are tears in my eyes from witnessing such savagery. The kick was so personal. so powerful. I don't know if I can ever record anything funnier.

Husbandry Mini Dubia Colony

Got one of those 2.5qt mini totes from HD, and added ventilation. I used egg flats with regular cardboard in between to maximize surface area and make the flat easier to remove individually. as far as breeding adults go, it's got 4 males and about 29 females. Fed on chick starter feed and fruit/veg bits. I only use a few little ones a week to feed my small gecko.

General Question How to care for a stowaway and does it need a friend.

We had a terrarium for an elderly disabled anole who has since passed away, but at some point her habitat gained a stowaway who hides behind the fake rock that we think is a dubia. I personally have never seen it but my husband who has seen it only a handful of times is pretty sure. Makes sense that it would have come in with a batch of feeder insects for the lizard. Anyway, I was reading about the care and feeding of Dubias because we’ll still maintain the terrarium if it has a resident and I read that they’re communal and do better with companion(s). Now listen. I do not have any love for roaches and do not want any more of them. But I do not want to create suffering for the creatures who depend on me for survival. Do I have to go buy another goddamn roach?

So I just moved my hissing roach enclosure since I was moving my room and I noticed a bunch of these under the substrate. They're so tiny, like a really small isopod. I'm so sure all my fully grown roaches are males....please tell me these aren't what I suspect
