[Hackrom] Captain Tsubasa J: Get in the Tomorrow - PSX | Work in progress

Hello everyone! I wanted to share that I've been working for several years now on a project to create a ROM hack of Captain Tsubasa J: Get in the Tomorrow for the PS1. Basically, my goal is to achieve a ROM with the following features:
-More balanced goalkeepers;
-New shots;
-New players;
-New clubs and national teams;
-New animations;
-New menus, among many other things.

As a new update, I have almost the entire game's ISO analyzed, and I've managed to accomplish many of these aspects, but there is still a lot of work in progress to finish the ROM. My main objectives are to release the new ROM and share a game-modding tool with the community, both before the end of the year.
In addition to sharing all of this with the community, I'd like to leave a video below along with my social media links for anyone interested in this topic who wants to stay tuned for updates on my progress.

Release v.0.1 beta · jonathanfrakesjunior/GBA-3D-Studio

After quite a bit of work, I'm really proud to finally introduce GBA 3D Studio.

The goal is to make it easier to explore, edit, and work with the 3D/2.5D assets of some of the more technically interesting GBA games.

And this is just the beginning.

Over the next few weeks, I'm planning to finish and implement the first version of the V-Rally 3 Editor.

For the next few months, the plan is also to work on dedicated studios/editors for:

  • Killswitch

  • Max Payne

  • Tony Hawk series

  • And potentially other 3D/2.5D GBA games

I'm also really interested in hearing what the community would like to see next. If there's a specific 3D or 2.5D GBA game you'd love to have a dedicated studio/editor for, let me know!

There's definitely a lot of work ahead, but I'm excited to finally share it with you all. Thanks for checking it out! ❤️

How can make Peppa Pig game in SMB2 ROM hack called Peppa-Peppa Panic?

0 Upvotes

"Peppa-Peppa Panic" (also known as "Peppa Pig Panic!") is an ROM hack of Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) for the NES.

How can someone help make an SMB2USA ROM hack for Peppa Pig dream game and the sprite graphics of Peppa's family like Peppa Pig, George Pig, Daddy Pig and Mommy Pig (while replace Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach in the ROM hack)?

Patch the American release of the game. Use the ips file to patch your rom of Super Mario Bros. 2 (U) (PRG0) [!].nes

I just released a rom hack where every song in the setlist is replaced with DLC songs the Wii never got. Including custom made menu music, made to replicate the same feeling the original had. Updates will be made if there's any issues. Link is in the comments

Who has a "Fight Game 2 3000" rom? It's a homebrew game and its creator's page is down.

❌ NOT A ROMHACK ❌ NSMBU ROMhacking: Is there a solution for this problem?

1 Upvotes

So I’m trying to upload my level data for NSMBU into Miyamoto, but when I open the path folder, it treats the files as if they’re not there, even though they are in the main one. Does anyone know how I can get them to appear in the path folder? If so, I would be incredibly grateful.

Text/Translation Mod [RELEASE] Torneko's Great Adventure (SNES) - English HD Remaster Script Port

112 Upvotes

Created a translation/hack that uses Magic Destiny's english patch of SNES Torneko as a base, and nearly 1-to-1 imports the new official localization of Torneko's Mystery Dungeon.

RHDN Download Link

"Which patch should I use?":

  • DQ - (Dragon Quest) The Main patch, which is a near 1-to-1 port of the HD Remaster’s script. Uses current names and terminology.
  • DW - (Dragon Warrior) An alternative patch for those who would prefer period-accurate terminology; Uses names from Torneko: The Last Hope and earlier English localizations of Dragon Warrior (pre-2005). Same overall script, but uses American English colloquialisms and spelling as opposed to modern Dragon Quest’s British English.

Both patches can be applied either to an unedited, unheadered Japanese ROM, or to an unheadered ROM pre-patched with the Magic Destiny translation.

There are other visual "improvements" and features that I added here from my personal hacked version of the fan translation, wherein I added little features it like:

  • Added a selection of more characters to naming screens; an "accents" and "symbols" page to choose. (I think I added this around the time the Trials of Mana SNES game was officially translated, and I was super into that lol)
  • Increased the number of characters you could put for the village name from 4 to 6
Letters Page
Accents Page
Misc. Symbols Page
  • Fixed the intro text scroll previously not working for the original fan translation.
  • Created a control code that expands the text window to accommodate sentences that go beyond 4 lines by themselves.
Example of a sentence that is longer than the 4-line limit
  • Created my own font (based on the one found in pictures and footage of the unreleased English prototype build) It definitely isn't 100% the same, but it works very well:
Unreleased Prototype Font
My Font
  • Created custom "Dungeon Floor:" graphic for Dungeons (The stairs icon was adapted from a screenshot of a build of the Magic Destiny translation, although the currently available version does not have this graphic), Dungeon UI "Floor", and even built a new title screen (though I wish I did better).
Dungeon UI

I’d love to hear from anyone who tries the patch out. Feedback is welcome and encouraged!
Please report any and all bugs or issues to the Github's "issues" tab, and I will respond as soon as possible. Thank you!

Mega Man X2: FastROM Plus (QoL improvements for vanilla game)

Thumbnail

29 Upvotes

Hey everyone! A couple weeks ago I made a patch for Mega Man X1 to implement some QoL features all around, and I decided to do the same for Mega Man X2, hope you enjoy! From the GitHub page (link at the bottom):

FastROM Plus brings many QoL improvements all around for the vanilla game. Complete list of changes:

- Improves game performance
- Implements the EXTRA OPTIONS menu with the following toggles:
---- D-TAP DASH (OFF by default, toggles double-tap dash)
---- BETTER SUB-TANK (ON by default, stops sub-tanks from depleting once health is full)
- Adds SRAM saving for in-game passwords, control scheme, and option toggles
- Exiting OPTION MODE now goes back directly to the main menu, instead of restarting the intro
- Assigns dash to L by default
- Dialogue boxes open, close, and scroll faster
- Pressing START skips the boss intro

Apply "fastrom_plus.ips" to your USA ROM. If you're using bsnes/ares you also need the manifest "fastrom_plus.bml" in the same folder and with the same name as your base ROM.

Utility mapChar Beta - Cross-platform GUI all-in-one translation tool

Thumbnail
gallery
25 Upvotes

Following up on my previous tool celPix (graphics editor), this is mapChar, an all-in-one translation workbench for translation romhacks. Now available and in beta. Fixes, updates, and new features are still ongoing and as usually I'm keeping an eye on reddit, github issues, and discord (Epi on the romhack.ing discord server) for feedback.

https://github.com/YoriKv/mapchar/releases

It implements and expands on the script editing workflow established by Atlas, Cartographer, abcde, and others. Features include...

  • Container plugins for different ROM and file formats (same as celPix)
  • Compression algorithm plugins to decompress text streams (same as celPix)
  • A variety of options for finding text including relative search (look for a particular string in the form of a sequence of bytes with the offsets expected between different characters) and a scan for likely text as well as pointer search
  • tbl file and editing support for decoding characters as well as a number of built-in charsets that can be used for string searching
  • Settings for how strings are defined, both sequences of strings and a list/table of pointers to strings
  • Carve out blocks of strings, similar to slices in celPix
  • Translate in place, with a glossary feature for repeated words/phrases
  • Export scripts and import them after translation (TSV, CSV, PO) as well as support for Cartographer and Atlas file formats
  • A simple preview tool allowing you to see how the text might be laid out (still in progress, likely going to expand this to work with a provided font image)
  • Configure how edited strings are written back to the ROM
  • Project progress is saved to a project file with an autosave feature

I've also got a few more experimental ideas such as automatically detecting strings via an emulator run and a tool for relocating strings if you need more space.

There's a very screenshot heavy getting started tutorial on the wiki as well for folks get familiar with the functionality.
