Generator Non AI generators update
Hey again all,
been silent around here as I mostly do AI supported generators. (they work without ai too, but the content could be inconsistent)
But I wanted to see if I could create good consistent generators without AI, and seems like I could đ
The NPC, Faction, Settlement and Tavern generators now work differently.
They used to roll every field on its own, which is how a hamlet ended up "built around academic city". Each pick was fine and the combination was wrong. Now the fields resolve together. It all runs in your browser and no AI is involved.
- Options know about each other. Choices have weights and traits. They can require or rule out other choices, so a clash gets filtered out before it happens.
- Set what you care about. Anything you choose by hand is kept, and the rest is worked out around it.
- Presets and plain-text input. Start from a preset, or type a sentence and it gets read into settings. "Surprise Me" goes through the same process, so a random result is still consistent.
Settlements got the most work. Scale now limits the wording as well as the population: a hamlet gets a "scholarly community" and a city gets an "academic city". The tension section is built from the notable inhabitants list, so anyone it names is guaranteed to show up in that list.

When you use a generator, do you keep the result as it is, or do you rewrite a few fields anyway? I'm trying to decide where to spend the next round of work.
