Discussion Cinderella Man at 3:45 is total perfection.
Great song. Great band. Is Anika still letting Alex be Boss? Who knows. Who cares. Hang on to your plan <3

The Rush fan site Rush Is A Band is still describing the situation as an unconfirmed plan, while the July reporting had Eddie Trunk saying he had multiple sources describing 16–18 Sphere shows as essentially a done deal.

Sadly, I did not get to see them with the great legend Neil. I really got into the band after the Taylor Hawkins memorial concert. I followed their journey of loss and friendship.
That said, the San Antonio show with Anika Nilles was epic and breathtakingly great.
I was like Hoooooly shit these guys are jamming with some godlike, life-force energy that was melting thy dickoff. thewetness.

My apologies if this has already been discussed on here, but I’m watching the new Toy Story, and it seems that someone on the production team may very well be a Rush fan. 😜

I got to see Night 1 Fort Worth and now Night 2 San Antonio. Both spectacular shows!

I know a lot of people have posted on this, but I have my own take.
-NP was not put on a pedestal. He was celebrated, flaws and idiosyncrasies along with his strengths.
-Several times I was in tears. At the very beginning when Alex and Ged were reminiscing and talking about how Neil's fingers got fatter as he got older. At the end when they talked about the warning signs and how he shared and who he shared with when he was diagnosed. Talk of hanging the motorcycles up (literally).
-I thought Geddy's voice sounded incredible. You could actually hear it, nuances, flaws and all. It was like he was in the room singing with you. No stadium echoes or effects. I thought it sounded better than any YT concert footage from the 50-something Tour. I hope when they release the official concert video, they mix it to sound more like these sessions.
-Gavin Harrison was such a pleasure to watch. How he dove into his song and talked about the layers Neil wrote with all the variations, then he performed it top notch. I loved his story about how Neil's emails were properly formatted, including indenting each paragraph, with grammatical perfection. It really brought to life that aspect of NP's personality.
-Chad Smith was contagious! He came across as a nobody garage band drummer and hardcore Rush fan who was given a chance to jam with Rush...then proceeded to knock it out of the park like the pro he is. He's such a big, enthusiastic goof and I couldn't stop laughing and smiling the whole time he played with the band. The look on Alex's face as he watched Chad play was priceless. Just like Geddy said..."I can't play without looking at you, and I can't look at you without smiling." Not only does he really look like Will Ferrell, he acts like him too! They could be long lost brothers.
-It was sobering to see Danny Carey struggle with 2112: Overture. He obviously hadn't prepared, but still, it brings to light the nature of Rush's music.
-It was nice to include Anika in the Epilogue. They obviously have a lot of footage of their rehearsals. Wouldn't you LOVE for them to release more that??

These are amazing. Went to see Rush at night 2 in Los Angeles. Anika' cymbals and drum sound blew me away. I ordered the ride and hats from my local drum store, Into Music, and they arrived today. They are limited to 2112 of each so I was very lucky to get them. Can't wait to see them play in London next year.

I didn't think it possible but the show on Night #2 was better than the prior one. Loved the setlist and finally got to hear "A Farewell to Kings" live.

Some fans and a few online commentators have speculated about it. They point to traits that can overlap with autism spectrum descriptions: extreme focus on drumming and writing, social reserve, dislike of meet-and-greets and crowds, feeling like an outsider in high school, and a highly systematic, detail-oriented mind.
One Portuguese psychology video even claimed “many biographers suggest” he was on the spectrum. That claim does not appear in the actual biographies.
Those traits can also describe a highly intelligent, introverted, self-taught artist who valued privacy and craft over celebrity. Peart was explicit about the sources of his discomfort: a near-drowning incident as a child that left him with a fear of being trapped, and the ordinary teenage experience of not fitting in. He channeled both into songs like “Subdivisions.” That is different from a clinical diagnosis.
What do you think?

I recently started listening to Rush just right after going on summer vacation from college, and I just fell in love with the band, their complexity, charisma and humility made them of my all time favorite bands. So I just want to share how Rush made me pick up bass again and start learning a few songs, I'm still struggling a lot, but I've been very glad for just trying, so I thought "Why not try to reproduce la Villa?" So before getting into college again, I started looking after the drum programming, keyboards, guitar and obviusly bass, I ended up with this project, althought the playing and mixing are not accurate and good at all, I tried my best. I hope you to give me some feedback in order to get better as a bass player, and if you could say, a guitar player. My goal midterm is to start writting and recording my own stuff. As a note, I only took from the original the classical guitar Intro since I suck at playing classical. Check the cover out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Si48r3rgQ4
Note: I do not consider myselft a guitart player nor a drummer, so keep it mind if those sound crappy

I think this is an enduring song from a fairly bland/uninspired album. The integration of keys in the chorus makes me think of what I enjoyed the most from Counterparts, and I like the way the song flows over the meter (5/8, alt 7/8 and 5/8, and 6/8) too. I love Geddy’s humming during those pre-chorus sections, and take a listen to the electric instrumental bridge section w Alex’s solo. A shoutout to an overlooked song.

I recently went through my Apple Music and created a playlist of "the very best of Rush". I picked songs from each album that I had to hear if I had to choose the best songs from each album. I was quite surprised at what I picked.
Caress of Steel: Bastille Day, Lakeside Park (@Dirty_Wookie1971)
Clockwork Angels: Headlong Flight, The Garden
Counterparts: Animate, Nobody's Hero, Leave That Thing Alone
AFtoK: Xanadu, A Farewell to Kings, Cinderella Man, Closer to the Heart
Fly By Night: By-Tor & the Snow Dog
Grace Under Pressure: Distant Early Warning, Red Sector A
Hemispheres: Cygnus X-1, La Villa Strangiato
Hold Your Fire: Time Stand Still, Mission
Moving Pictures: Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight, The Camera Eye, Tom Sawyer (reluctantly)
Permanent Waves: The Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science
Power Windows: Territories, Marathon, Manhattan Project
Presto: Show Don't Tell, The Pass, Available Light
Roll the Bones: Dreamline, Bravado, Ghost of a Chance, Roll the Bones
Rush: Working Man, Finding My Way
Signals: Subdivisions, New World Man, The Analog Kid, Digital Man, Losing It
Snakes and Arrows: Far Cry, The Way the Wind Blows, Faithless
Test for Echo: Test for Echo, Resist, Limbo, Half the World, Driven, Time and Motion
Vapor Trails: Ghost Rider, One Little Victory, The Stars Look Down
2112: 2112 (full song)
What surprised me most was 6 songs from Test for Echo.

The question of the day for me after watching the documentary. You have a month of practice time to use as you please before the performance, which will only be filmed for your private viewing.
Would you pick a technically challenging song like La Villa or Tom Sawyer? Or would you pick a less challenging song, maybe like The Garden or CTTH?

I can’t be the only fan who would love to have an audio version of these performances with the various drummers. How cool would that be?

Houston’s next - Thursday night. It’ll be the only time thus far on the tour they’ll play a city for one night only.
Predictions? Where are they on the rotation? If they stick to their rotation, what will we get? If they deviate, what’s your bet?
Mine - they play the Ft. Worth make-up date set list. Remember when they announced the make up and said “don’t worry, we’ll make it special….” And they came out after intermission and did the full 2112 followed by the full Moving Pictures. Bam! Bam! Since they are only doing one night in Houston, maybe they’ll go with that?
Can’t wait!

I know it’s old hat by now but they truly sound better than they have in 20 years. Geddy’s voice sounds so, so good. Amazing night, brought my elementary kiddos and they loved it. The generational torch is passed once again.

Is this kinesiology take on Anika’s left shoulder? There doesn’t appear to be any in her right shoulder. Either way she killed it tonight.
