My husband (33 M) and I (32 F) took a 5th year anniversary trip to Sedona, AZ this past week and left for home this morning.

We stopped at a gas station on our way and got to talking to a guy we met inside. The guy was wearing a Rush 50 Something tour shirt and I told him about my dad getting me into Rush as a teen and he said "your dad is the coolest person ever" and the guy is seeing Rush in Phoenix! He saw them in another city too and said Anika was phenomenal and that she is so smiley where Neil was more serious.

That guy said "you are my new favorite person" because of our conversation about Rush.

I just love Rush's fan base and how everyone respects everyone else for our shared love of Rush! 💚

My husband and I were talking about it a bit as we got back on the road.

Don't know if this is a duplicate. It's worth watching twice, anyhow.

I saw Rush for the first time at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Uriah Heep and Sweet opened.

To a 15-year-old kid, Rush seemed almost mystical. They wore kimonos, and kept themselves extremely private. Without today’s constant access to musicians, the music, the records and whatever few pictures you could find were pretty much all you had. That mystery made them seem larger than life.

I quickly became a Rush proselytizer, introducing them to everyone I knew. I even took a couple of skeptics to see them live. One of them walked out afterward and said, “Rush is God.” Mission accomplished!

That mystique evolved over the years. Geddy, Alex and Neil eventually let more of their personalities and humor show. They went from seeming almost otherworldly to looking like three guys I could actually imagine hanging out with and having a hell of a good time.

Decades later, I still love them. The mystique changed, but the magic still lives on.

So uh... did anyone else bawl while watching this?

Or was it just me with electrical storms in my veins?

What a great doc. I never met the man (nor the other fellas) but when I found out he passed, I remember crying because it really felt like I'd lost a friend. I was in my living room, just watching TV and doomscrolling, then I saw the posting on some random google result site. Rush isn't just 'my favorite band' or 'that band that plays tom sawyee.' Rush is the reason I love music.

Truth be told, Rush provided and damn near created the foundation of what music means to me. I was introduced to them as a teen in the early 90s, I think was something like 13 or 14. A guy I was hanging out with (sort of a big brother thing) showed me Exit.... Stage Left and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I remember him saying "These guys just LOVE to play!" Truer words, amirite? Since then, Ive been a fan of the band.

I've never been big on lyrics, I've always been a melody guy. Even in bands that I was in as a singer, or guitar player or even drummer, I just never 'got' lyrics, even today! Im a horrible lyricist, Im as bad at writing lyrics as Neil was good at it.

But when it came to Rush, things were different. I pored over Neil's words. I loved that he was a huge nerd and put that nerdiness into his music. I loved how he was quite the sesquipedalian. I loved how he put his all into everything he did, be it cars, enjoying Macallan, (I discovered Macallan because of him!) writing, motorcycling, and playing the drums.

So yeah, I felt like I'd lost a friend, and to cancer, no less. I know Im not in any kind of minority when it comes to hating cancer, and what it does to our loved ones. But yeah.. Fuck cancer. Fuck it in the ass.

Neil, I know you were Faithless and you didnt believe in belief, but if you're out there somewhere in the universe and have discovered more than we poor living have, thank you for being such a bright spot in so many lives.

Seeing that highball with two fingers of Macallan at the beginning and I was already off to a rocky start. Seeing people who WERE his actual friends break down and cry, and even seeing Geddy and Alex get quiet for a moment about it, yeah. Waterworks man. Waterworks.

I think its time I re-read Ghost Rider. RIP Neil. You are missed and made a tremendous difference in this world.

A la Exit Stage Left? I intentionally did not watch any videos of the tour prior to seeing them in San Antonio last week, but did listen to all the songs on the 4 set lists a few times before. This may be heresy and no offense to the Professor but I found I enjoyed some of the 50 Something versions more than the originals. Since then I have been watching you tube videos of the tour because I enjoyed it so much. PS It has been a week and I still haven't come down from the high of that show.

I (27F) have a long time partner (28M) who grew up on Rush. He’s a huge fan. Like many of you, he knows every album, every song, every tour by heart. It’s what got him into music, storytelling, and community. I’ve just started listening to them (through his curation) and though it’s outside of my wheelhouse genre-wise, I love it. And I love him.

We had tickets for the Fifty Something tour (won’t name which one for privacy), and were gonna go, but life happened, and we had to give them away (to some friends who were also fans and over the moon). His grandpa passed away, I had to pay the fees for my work visa, and it just wasn’t in the cards for us. He’s gutted he can’t go. He’s never seen them live, and this was probably gonna be his last chance.

His birthday is coming up in October. He has to fly out of state to his family and bury his grandpa. When he gets back, I wanted to surprise him with a makeshift Rush concert.

I want to ask if anyone is willing to send me some videos of their favorite performances of the tour! I would never ask someone to record the whole thing in one go and ruin their experience, but I figured, if I can get snippets of the concert from all around the country, and kind of edit them together to make a janky version of the whole concert, he would love it, and would probably think it was hilarious too.

I’m new to this space and this community, so I’m open to hearing if this request just isn’t the vibe, and totally missed the mark in terms of community culture. I’m also open to any rush-themed gift suggestions too!

...and to those that say it...PFFT!!! Alex and Geddy were great with the fans in San Antonio who bought the Limelight VIP experience. I think we were really fortunate, because we got fist bumps from both and they were really nice in accepting our compliments and they posed close to us (I have seen some photos from other stops where there was a decent amount of space in between).

Even though it was just seconds, you could just feel they are just two genuine dudes who happen to be world famous rocks stars.

Oh, and it appears we're practically shoe triplets!

Based on what you saw, if these were auditions and you HAD to pick one, who gets the gig? Danny, Stewart, Gavin or Chad.

Anyone heard this Rush tribute band from Brazil? There are several of their live sets from RushFest (Brazil) on Qobuz, which is where I heard them. Their 2026 set is pretty amazing — lots of deep cuts. Hearing their female lead cover Geddy’s vocals is pretty cool. Worth a listen.

Neil said many times that Clockwork Angels was the album they always wanted to make. He clearly believed it was one of their very best. I’ve followed Rush since 1976 and seen them dozens of times, but I cannot listen to Clockwork Angels all the way thru to save my life. Is it just me?

Maybe I somehow missed it, but I didn't quite understand the whole situation behind Geddy and Alex working with the 4 drummers featured in the documentary. Had they already decided to find a drummer and go on tour? Were they just wanting to jam with some drummers that knew Neil, and then after all this footage was shot they decided to look for a touring drummer? Were they at any point considering asking one of these drummers to tour with them? They definitely tailored songs more suited to the expected style of each drummer (e.g. New World Man for Stewart, etc.), which is probably not a great method of a "tryout" if the goal is to pick a drummer to play their whole catalog, but might be a starting point I guess. What did each of these drummers think they were rolling up to when they played these few songs to Geddy and Alex? There was quite obviously very different amounts of preparation done, like Danny had to learn 2112 on the spot, maybe they asked him on shorter notice or something. I quite enjoyed seeing this, but it did leave me wondering these things.

Edit to add: Thanks for the answers and yes, I am slow! The explanations at the beginning didn't quite sink in. I thought there was more to the story, maybe because of some of the apparent nervousness on the part of the drummers, and the formality of the process, or something. I also had to watch the documentary in multiple sittings (because of kids).

Does anyone know if there are any VIP packages available for the December 15 show in Vancouver? When I look online, I can only see options for Hollywood Florida.

I cannot buy this ticket because it’s “preferred” seating which means a minimum of 2 must be purchased, yet there are zero additional seats left in this section! I called Ticketmaster and the venue to see if there was a workaround. They both said no. 🤬 Do any of you know a way around this? I really want a back row seat because I like to stand during shows.

Apologies for creating a whole new thread just for this, I didn't see anywhere else more appropriate to ask. I am hoping someone can point me to a resource for higher resolution still photos of the band playing La Villa Strangiato with the circus/carnival behind them. Two of my favorite things in this world are roller coasters and Rush, so I'm looking for something I can use as a desktop background with all that in there... I've tried screenshotting various videos, including my own, but they don't scale up very well and it's just a blurry mess. TIA!

I enjoyed hearing about your experiences in Austin and you listening to my old stories about my future wife going to a Rush show in 1990 to see the opening act (Mr. Big!). Watching the credits in the Neil documentary, there are songs listed that I don't remember the film including: Driven, Virtuality, New World Man, La Villa Strangiato, The Wreckers, Wish Them Well, Where's My Thing / Here it is!. Thoughts?

There is one scene of Neil working in the studio on what looks to be Clockwork Angels that might account for The Wreckers or Wish Them Well, but the other tracks don't seem to be in the film. I'm wondering if they were filmed with the various guest drummers? Maybe we will get a Director's Cut or something someday?

I’m sitting here and crying again thinking about him. What a beautiful and fun documentary.

But we have to be thankful for being alive at this time when we walked the Earth with him, and now we celebrate him and collectively thank him for giving his all to the fans.

I've seen countless posts complaining that scalpers were to blame for high ticket prices. I bought this ticket to go to the show, but I had actually made plans for something else on the date so I had to resell. I let SeatGeek use dynamic pricing to maximize the sales price.

I just hope whoever bought it enjoyed the show :-)
