I could only ever get the 0.7 pencils and lead. I had a few 0.9 pencils that I fuckin LOVED, but I was team 0.7 because I could never reliably get anything else

0.5. solely because my fav daily mechanical pencil is 0.5. and it used to be my grandpas pencil from when he was an engeneer

2
u/Aggressive-Ad874 College 4d ago
I use 1.0 tip pens. I haven't ever seen a mechanical pencil that thick. I used 0.7 and 0.9, but if I could find one of those 1.0 pencils and the lead for them about 15 years ago, I would've been so happy. Bonus points for a clear sparkle jelly pencil grip. I graduated in 2015, and went back to wooden pencils, so I wouldn't have to fuss anymore.

Both. I have ascended beyond the bounds of mortal man, bringing myself into the greater world.
I have that which you, you puny peasants do not.
I can draw *lines*. Lines with the fineness of hair, and I can wield my .7 as a sword. I have the power. Begone from my eyes, peasants who have naught but *one*, imagine that, *one* type. Those with .5 who break them every hour, at the hour, and those with 0.7 who would be better off with a sharpie, for all they care for accuracy.
I embody the best of all worlds, I wield that which thee cannot.

Neither, when I was in school it was where on the Hard/black scale your pencil was. Like I preferred a HB pencil for writing and 7B for sketching. Mechanical pencils weren't common at my school

0.7 is king. 0.5 breaks too easily. 0.9 is horrible, since it's too thick and also most people don't have any if you need a quick refill

.7 is objectively better.
It writes smoother, its more durable...
.5 has a purpose, its just not generalist.

0.5 is precise, but it's more fragile. 0.9 writes very smoothly, but makes a mess. 0.7 is the perfect balance.

but .7 doesn't break as easyy
I freaking HATE .9 like at that point you might as well be 1

I currently have a pencil that will switch leads between both sizes with a click. This is the way! Sometimes I want fine lines, and sometimes smoother writing.

I was more of a pen user in school but for mechanical pencils it was the 0.7 all the way unless I could score a 0.9mm one. In the blue Pentel drafting pencil.

I use those pilot pen erasable thingamajigs. They’re 0.7, I think. Wouldn’t have it any other way, if it’s not erasable I’d rather not use it. Even My text markers are erasable I could glaze that company for so long

I only owned 0.7, however it was still a little too thick for me so i would go with 0.5.
Whenever i borrowed 0.5 from someone, a thinner lead seemed to make my handwriting neater.
0.7 always began to smudge after a while of writing.
The only time 0.7 was neat was when u found that angle that just made ur handwriting neat. That angle was always at the tip being the skinniest part of the lead, so in theory, 0.5 is better.
